Fantastic! We did the west of the island tour yesterday and in spite of the weather (torrential rain at times and a lot of low cloud) our driver Roy and guide Christian, made it a great day out. They adjusted the itinerary ( after asking agreement of the group) to suit the weather conditions. They even slotted in a stop at a traditional Poncha bar since it was just raining too hard to make one of the stops. The guide was really friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and the driving felt really safe around some really windy steep roads. The trip was tremendous value for money - a very full day out, leaving before 9 and returning after 6. Plenty of stops and a decent lunch break. We were certainly impressed and would definitely book with this company, guide and driver again.

When in Madeira you really need to take two tours - one covering the west and north of the island and one covering the east. This small group minibus tour was ideal and gave adequate time in the main places and a knowledgeable driver/guide. Good value for money

We had a wonderful visit. We had no idea what to expect when we planned to visit
Madeira.
The island is lush with beautiful plants, trees and flowers. The winding roads through the mountains offered spectacular views of the island.
Our guide, Martin Freitas was great!!! I felt blessed to have met him. I contacted Martin before we left for Portugal to explain to him that my dad was born on Madeira Island and I wanted to see the house where my grandmother lived. I emailed Martin the address and he took us to see the street and the house that she had lived in.
Martin gave us a wonderful tour of the highlights of Madeira Island.
We were on a cruise and were only in port for the day. It was a memorable visit.
I highly recommend Martin Freitas as a tour guide.

Rui was fantastic and full of lots interesting facts about the island whilst being quite funny! He is proper passionate about his island, we loved him! The spots you visits are all unique in their own way and really picturesque. The times allowed in each place are just about to see the area in enough detail without over doing it. The small group is nice too as you can get to know some off people on the tour. Definitely would recommend.

Had a fabulous tour with Susana. She went the extra mile to ensure we all had a great day on our tour of the island. She went at our pace and we got a full day’s tour which went over and beyond. Make sure you ask for Susana when you book

Patrick was brilliant. Despite poor weather for a large part of the tour, we had a fulfilling experience.
Patrick was kind & friendly - very informative and great at explaining and painting a picture of the viewpoints and the natural areas we were passing through but couldn't experience due to high winds and heavy rain. The stops which were sunny and dry were exactly as they said, and we want to return to experience the nature stops we missed out on because of the weather.
Highly recommend this tour - Great as a taster for more of Madeira's island nature! Would do again on a fair weather day!

Cristian was amazing. So kind & friendly - very informative and was great at explaining and offering alternatives when we decided as a group, not to visit 2 of the stops due to adverse weather conditions.
Despite poor weather for part of the tour, we got to have a really fun, fulfilled experience with an added stop to a local poncha hotspot (I recognised from a UK TV programme).
Highly recommend this tour - Great as a taster for more of what Madeira has to offer! Would do again!

We were due to be picked up from our apartment but unfortunately due to a crash and roadworks the bus turned up 45 minutes later. The driver apologised and explained why. We visited all the places on the itinerary but some in a different order due to a cruise shop visiting. Our bus driver/tour guide (Rui) was very knowledgeable about the places we visited. The tour gives you a good insight into the west side of the island. We visited some beautiful places. You will stop in Porto Moniz for lunch which is not included in the price and a swim in the Lido if you choose. The last stop before last our tour driver fell ill. Replacement drivers arrived in 30 minutes and took us onto our last stop. We didn't miss out on any of the tour as a result and hope he has made a full recovery.

Can anyone recommend tours. We are in Funchal over the Xmas period, but also wanted to visit a football stadium, can anyone recommend. We are staying at the Vidimar Resort.

if you are that interested in football visit the Ronaldo museum on the main prom opposite the harbour where the cruise ships visit with so much to see on the island a football stadium is not on my list of must sees its a stadium where football is played same as england

Looking do do at least the east and west tours 5th and 7th of October. Can I book these tours once on the island or will they be fully booked.

We booked ours when we were there just a couple of days beforehand, we had a personal tour - just us and the driver - Lionel. It was still in a people carrier which being taller than average car gave spectacular views. Lionel took us to places the big tour buses couldn't get to and we could also stop where we wanted and spend as long as we wanted to in each place. It is dearer than going with a large tour bus but the personal tour is much nicer, you are not herded around with a few minutes in each place! Doing it this way you also get to see more and Lionel being a local has lots of information and stories about the area which all adds to the experience. It was a very full day and well worth the money. Lionel is meticulous about the cleanliness of his vehicle and whenever we stopped he would be cleaning the windows whilst we went to see the place, he gets teased about this by other drivers but as Lionel says you are there to see the island and it is better to see it through spotless windows.
