Our cruise ship was 4 hours late arriving into Madeira which subsequently made us 2 hours late for our tour with Madeira Sidecars. I did not expect them to have waited for us but couldn’t get a signal to contact the company. Imagine our surprise then when we eventually disembarked to find Nuno patiently waiting for us looking totally chilled! We couldn’t believe our luck! We set off for a 4 hour tour and left it up to Nuno where he took us. He was obviously very proud of his island and showed us such beautiful places. We had such a great time that we are hoping to return for a week next year to explore more of it. We would definitely use this company again and would highly recommend them. Our tour ended up lasting about 4.5 hours and was one of the best tours we have done. Thank you Nuno for being so patient and understanding - spending time with you was a highlight of our holiday

A fantastic experience
We were greeted and briefed very efficiently at the cruise terminal before setting off on a two hour trip with a knowledgeable and experienced local guide. The sidecar was comfortable and easy to access and this is a great way to experience the island in the company of friendly and professional hosts

We really enjoyed the sidecar adventure! Nuno was a fantastic driver and guide. He was so knowledgeable and kind, and made us feel welcome in Madeira. He tailored our tour to exactly what we wanted to see. It was our first time on a motorcycle and we felt completely safe and secure with him. It was a really fun day! You won’t be disappointed!

Filipe was the star of this experience (after his vehicle, of course!).
Meeting at the cruise terminal, we spent nearly three hours in his company, sharing his knowledge of and passion for his island. I rode pillion, with my wife in the sidecar, with several photo stops where we could have swapped places if we’d wanted to. We’d been on a coach tour in the morning, visiting the usual tourist hotspots, so he took us to less well visited and less accessible places, out of the city, along the coast, up through the banana plantations, through the vineyards and way up into the hills. It was brilliant (and what a contrast to the limits of the coach tour). The trip was well paced and we felt safe at all times).
Filipe was very personable and patient, teaching my wife the easiest way in and out of the sidecar (more accessible then you might think). His commentary was informative and entertaining, communicating through the headsets in our helmets.
I haven’t ridden pillion for decades, so this was a real thrill. I cannot recommend this experience highly enough, and look forward to negotiating the route of a longer journey if and when we return to Madeira. Thanks Filipe.

Really exciting trip, tour guide was excellent. So good with information, friendly, kind and took some brilliant photos of myself and my 9 year old daughter. Madeira is so beautiful and what a way to see it.!!

A great unique way to see the island from a different perspective.
Nuno our guide kept up a great commentary all the while negotiating the very twisty steep roads. We felt very safe with him,and there were opportunities to take photos.
We would certainly book another trip with this company if we return to Maderia

OMG! This was such a fun experience!! It was a great way to get to see more than we would have. Nuno was our guide and he was amazing. We wish we could have stayed longer in Maderia but he helped us cover a lot of ground!!

Oh this was the best fun! My hubby wanted to do this trip, I was unsure. But I absolutely loved it. Nunu was our driver & guide. Despite the headsets not working we could hear what he was telling us, he was very knowledgeable about the area, the agriculture & the villages. We had plenty of stops to stretch our legs & take photos. I felt 100% comfortable & safe in the sidecar. It was a unique way to see some of this beautiful island. I'm.so glad we did this.

Fabulous way of seeing such a beautiful Island.
Our guide and expert rider Nuno was knowledgeable and friendly, taking us to places that accurately reflected Island life. The views were outstanding!
Communication before the trip was excellent and Filipe always answered any questions promptly.
Heartily recommend and would definitely do it again.

What’s it like on the back,of the motorbike please? Never been on the back of a bike so a bit unsure and no doubt the wife will,grab the seat in the sidecar

Hi. It is quite safe as we ride slowly and the pillion seat is an independent seat with two hand pegs if needed.
We are more than used to have people who never rode on a motorcycle before and at the end people forget about all their fears. Nevertheless, (and this has never happened) if after sometime you do not feel comfortable, we can end the tour. Or make a tour using 2 sidecars allowing both of passengers to seat on the sidecar.

We (2 of us) are inerested in the side car tour. Never been to Madiera(Funchal) before. we're on a cruise ship on Dec28. Seems like a great deal of fun. Is there a lot of walking ? how long a trip would it be for Novices to enjoy a journey. From your reviews it sounds great. what time would you pick us up at ship and(at your suggestion for length drop us back at the shipwe dock @ 8am and have to back at ship NLT 3pm. we don't need to side car all that that time unless you see m to think well miss something.

We will be on a Vantage tour arriving April 20 and staying at the Pestina Carlton Medeira Hotel and would like to schedule a tour with Fillipe on April 22. On April 21 we will be going on an included tour visiting Market Place in Old Town, Views of Funchal on the toboggan from Monte. What would you suggest for us. We are 2 active senior citizens. Are there any limitations regarding seniors as far as the sidecars are concerned? Any suggestions regarding type of clothing to wear?
