Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Most tourists visiting Funchal take the cable car to Monte Gardens. Across the street from the lower station of the cable car is the office of Flora Travel. Bought three Trips and an airport transfer from them. Everyone on the minibus in small groups. The first trip is Porto Moniz to the north of the island with many stops. Guide Magno, everything is very well organized. The stops are reasonable and beautiful, saw a lot. The second is the Rabacal and 25 Fontes levadas and waterfalls. 11 km. Guide to Magno. Very at a reasonable pace (we are not young) , beautiful and informative - apart from the beautiful views Magno told many interesting things about the flora of the island and the mechanisms of water collection by the forests. The third trip - Eira do Serrado/Curral das Freiras - in content amazing - views of the village in the volcano vent. Unfortunately, the organization is worse , the driver (name I don't remember) was always in a hurry somewhere. Already upstairs you could linger a little more than half an hour, and in the village you wanted to go for a walk, and the time of 20 minutes - to enter the church and gift shop . In a hurry, I didn't realize we'd been counted when we bought the cakes. The airport transfer is very well organized - the driver arrived on time, helped with the suitcases and entertained us all the way with talk about the beautiful island.

On two occasions we chose to join minibus tours organised by Flora Travel. On both occasions our driver/tour guide was the very knowledgeable and entertaining Magno. He was brought up on the island and knows it's history, flora and fauna and roads like the back of his hand. Our tours lasted for about seven hours with hotel collection and return.
One tour took in the West of Madeira, the other the east of the island. This is a good way to visit many places in a short visit.
Our western tour included the pretty fishing village of Camara de Lobos, Ponta do Sol, over the mountains and through the Laurasilva forests of bay and eucalyptus - the source of the water that collects in the levadas and supplies the lower agricultural areas with a constant water supply. Then down to Porta Moniz on the north coast where we enjoyed lunch and a visit to the rock swimming pools.Return was by a different mountainous route where we had several stops to admire the views.
Our eastern tour took us up to the top of Madeira's third highest peak at 1098 meters, then, by way of visiting several view points and another 'sky walk' ( a glass platform on stilts over the sea), a sugar cane rum factory and the little thatched houses in Santana, we returned to Funchal by way of a view of the airport. This gave us a full appreciation of the skill pilots require to land and take off planes.

Wonderful Levada Tour in Machico. Tour guide Oskar has given us a lot of information about the fauna and useful tips for less experienced hikers. Thank you for the patience, support and great day.

There were 6 of us and we took the 2 and 1/2 day tours, we had Tiago as our guide all three days. He was very punctual and really easy going. Would consider him a very safe driver and very knowledgeable about Madeira. All in all we had a great time and the tours are well worth the price.

We went on the full-day Rabacal walk last week and had a great experience.

Pick up and drop off was from our hotel, so no need to get to a central location.

Our guide was Magno, who had a fantastic sense of humour and was very knowledgeable. He gave us regular information about the local flora and fauna during the walk, which made it all the more interesting.

We were blessed with good weather, however it's best to take warm clothing and a waterproof if you're not sure about the conditions up in the mountains - it's a lot cooler up there....

All in all a great way to spend a day in the Madeiran countryside, whilst getting some exercise and learning about Madeira.

Fully recommended.

Lovely day tour with stunning scenery, swimming in volcanic pools, a great experience of the island outside Funchal. Small group driven by fab Tim in a comfortable people carrier. Tim was friendly, knowledgeable and happy to answer questions. Nice to be talked to and not at. We had such good time we booked with Flora to go to Santana tomorrow.

On the recommendation of the tourist information office twice toured with Floral travel. Walk Rabaçal, Risco, 25 Fontes. And tour to western part of Madeira. Both very well organized. Expert guide, gives lots of information about the island and vegetation. Very good value for money. Highly recommended!

We went on an excellent walking tour to the 25 fountains in the west of the island in early January. Our guide was first class, humorous and a mine of information. The minibus was very comfortable and we had a great driver. Everything was done professionally and efficiently. We can throughly recommend this trip.

Travelled by minibus for 2 days, then a van for a day trip. They take you all the places you could possibly want to visit - sightseeing as well as some traditional places to try Madeiran food. Magno and Lionel were our guides - speaking english very well and knowledgeable as well. Awesome experience! (although the minibus is a bit outdated) We are greatful for this experience:)
