A unique experience
Sep 2019
You get there directly by cable car that you take nearby the city center.

The park is beautiful and enjoys many points from which you can have a complete and wonderful view of the city. If you want to have an alternative experience then I recommend you bring a lunch basket, a towel and eat directly in the park (which many locals do).

Favorite place in Guimaraes
Dec 2019
We had such a great time exploring here. The park is beautiful and completely amazing. Just wish it had a bit more of signaling to know your way around because it's massive.
Would recommend 100%, there's just a lot to see. The church is small but beautiful and the mini golf so much fun.

Beautiful views and a beautiful Church
May 2019
To get to the top there is a beautiful glass cable car ride followed by a short set of stairs to the mountain top, the sanctuary as well as other buildings and monuments. It is a beautiful, quiet, peaceful park with magnificent views of the city and surrounding country side. Well worth exploring.

Amazing views with choral music
Sep 2019 • Couples
We cycled (and had to walk some of the way) up here. It took us just over 40 minutes from the Pousada Mosteria. The view is spectacular and the choral music coming from the church made it more so.

There are lots of cafes at the top serving a range of food and drink. Two coffees and pastel del natal were a very reasonable 2 euros 70. It was pretty busy on the Sunday we were there. There is a camp site and mini golf at the top.

Nice place to visit with family
Aug 2019 • Family
It was a nice visit to this area. Quite nice and family friendly. If weather is good expect a lot of people and traffic jam’s going up and down the area.

Atop the hill above Guimaraes - well worth the visit.
Jul 2019 • Couples
A beautiful serene spot atop the hill above Guimaraes. The church isn't large but it's very lovely inside. Its terraces offer fabulous views across the valleys and over the city of Guimaraes. We travelled up to the top using the teleferique from the town - was a novelty ride up and back. You can drive up, walk up, take your bikes up on the cabina and have a wild ride back down... a really great place.

Sanctuary above the city
Jul 2019 • Couples
Today we visited the Montanha da Penha In Guimarães. The cable car up was quick and provided fabulous views on the city but beware if you have issues with heights. The sanctuary at the top is built in the Art Deco style which made it interesting and different from the older buildings that we had been visiting. The inside of the chapel was very peaceful and cool and we were happy to spend quiet time there.

The surprise is really the gardens and amazing big rock formations that surround the sanctuary itself. Allow time to stroll through these and you can even take in a yoga class In the open square if you are so inclined.

Go on a clear day so you can enjoy the magnificent views of the city below

a very nice view
Mar 2019
We took the lift to the top and then went down on foot. Going down was quite challenging, it took us more than an hour, but it was fun. The view on the top is amazing, it is also very nice to walk around the huge stones.
