Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was a great hike up to the park (lots of steep inclines on both cobblestones and steps) with plenty of time enjoying all the gorgeous landscape and historical buildings. Be sure to find the fountain of youth (push the button below the leaf for the water to come out!). This is great for couples or families. We spent over an hour just walking around at the top before we hiked back down to Guimaraes.

You can go there by cable car. You can do it by car to the top. You can bike it or go hiking. Both of the latter options are for the die hards. Your rewards are great. The mountain has a huge number of impressive boulders. On top are still old defenses. You can hike even higher to be surprised by a view of Guimerães and its surroundings. It takes some time to get your bearings. Restaurants and terraces are present. Picnicking is possible everywhere. The campground is situated on the mountain.

You get there directly by cable car that you take nearby the city center.

The park is beautiful and enjoys many points from which you can have a complete and wonderful view of the city. If you want to have an alternative experience then I recommend you bring a lunch basket, a towel and eat directly in the park (which many locals do).

We cycled (and had to walk some of the way) up here. It took us just over 40 minutes from the Pousada Mosteria. The view is spectacular and the choral music coming from the church made it more so.

There are lots of cafes at the top serving a range of food and drink. Two coffees and pastel del natal were a very reasonable 2 euros 70. It was pretty busy on the Sunday we were there. There is a camp site and mini golf at the top.

A beautiful serene spot atop the hill above Guimaraes. The church isn't large but it's very lovely inside. Its terraces offer fabulous views across the valleys and over the city of Guimaraes. We travelled up to the top using the teleferique from the town - was a novelty ride up and back. You can drive up, walk up, take your bikes up on the cabina and have a wild ride back down... a really great place.

I am not big on churches but this one, in the park at the top of the Cable Car, has the best view of Guimaraes and environs. The gardens in front of the church were gorgeous. Planted with pansies amongst the fountains, in the shape of a cross.

We went up by cable car (good experience) on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Good views and an interesting landscape, but it was difficult to get away from people and from cars trying to find somewhere to park.

Arriving my cable car I loved getting lost along the pathways. I did not explore too far but from the map it looks a lot bigger than the area I covered. Lovely views and cheap cable car. You can drive there too and watch the sunset.

best of both worlds. Park and historic church. To visit you can drive but I suggest taking the "teleferico de Guimares" at a cost of 2.30 - 4.60 euro return. The ride is great and gives a good over view of the area. Park has many hiking trails and has overnight camping. (check in advance) I peacful enjoyable full or part day.
