Overview

Reminiscent of Venice's "Bridge of Sighs", the Casa do Arco was a surprising find along Rua de Santa Maria, within the historic district of Guimaraes. This lovely narrow cobblestone street links the Largo da Oliveira Square to the 10th century Guimaraes Castle, and 15th century...More

Rua de Santa Maria is an old town cobbled street in Guimaraes Portugal. It has interestingly painted doors on a cobbled street, like living art. There are quite literally hundreds of them.

Having walked through Largo da Oliveira & Praca San Tiago we reached Rua de Santa Maria which in turn led us to Largo Cónego & Câmara Municipal de Guimarães. The road is interesting in both directions from Praca San Tiago

This is a street that you will come through on your way through the warren of Medieval streets of Guimaraes. The houses on either side of the small tunnel you will pass under are the Portuguese version of Romeo & Juliet.
