Quinta Santa Eufemia was founded in 1864 by Bernardo Rodrigues Carvalho, and now is managed by the fourth generation of the Family who have been producing these fine old Douro Port wines, preservinf the alge-old-skills of winemaking and ageing.Situated on the left side of the river Douro, with over 45 hectares under vines, the vineyard produces grapes of the richest varieties, trodden in the traditional way and fermented on granite vats in order to extract their finest essences. The wine is aged in oak casks before being selectively blended to satisfy the most refined palates.

Wonderful, warm family establishment!

We stopped here as part of a tour, and I'm so glad we did. The woman who showed us around and hosted our tasting is part of the family that owns this place. I can't say enough... read more

My wife and I visited Quinta Santa Eugenia whilst staying in Porto. We took advantage of a free glass of port which we had a voucher for, supplied when we bought the cable car tickets. We bought a further two glasses after the free ones. The cellar in Porto is lined with large placards explaining the way port grapes are... More

We stopped here as part of a tour, and I'm so glad we did. The woman who showed us around and hosted our tasting is part of the family that owns this place. I can't say enough about how personal the tour felt (there were 10 of us total) and how much I appreciated all the details on the making... More

Definitely recommend a stop here to try the wines. Far more family run feel than the big chain spots. Great port and great people with a more interesting tour.

Our Rick Steves tour of Portugal visited on Sept 27th. We were very fortunate to visit during harvest time. Not only did we get to see them bring the grapes in from the vineyards to be taken off the stems but our group got to stomp grapes while Maria and Theresa (I hope I remembered their names right) played an... One stop on all day Cool Trips day tour from Porto. A must do Vinyard visit Portugal. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable on ports and port wine production. This small specialty vinyard has several award winning vintages. The tasting selection includes full selection of white to red ports accompanied by palate cleansing breads and chocolates. My favorite by... More

We had an unplanned visit to the vineyard after finding it on Trip Advisor. The staff were very accommodating and squeezed in a tour just for us and our 10 and 12 year old children. We learnt all about the science and art of making Port which was enhanced by the enthusiasm of the young team showing us around. Great... More

We visited Q de S.E. with a small tour group. The tour around the distillery and wine tasting was informative and our host was extremely funny! We enjoyed every minute; fabulous views and glad that we were not on one of those big tour buses. Very hot!

We traveled with a group to Quinta Santa Eufemia for a tour of the grounds and a port tasting. It was amazing! Hearing the history of and seeing the beauty of the estate is an experience I will never forget. The property is charming. The tasting included so many varieties of port that I can't even recall how many we... More

We visited and had lunch at Quinta de Santa Eufemia winery on our Rick Steves tour of Portugal recently. Our group was greeted by Theresa who gave us a 30 minute walk through the vineyards. Her English was excellent. The scenery in the Douro River valley surrounding this winery is absolutely incredible. The wine estate is about 50 hectares in... More
