Well worth a short trip and it is lovely and cool inside. Look at the height of the roof and imagine them building it and painting it.

The building as most in Portugal are in good shape and worthwhile to visit. We did like it. The difficulty in parking is always an issue

... but not this one. Supposed to be the 2nd oldest in Portugal but, to my eye, had little to commend it. One for the cathedral buffs.

Interesting history, combination of various styles. Try to collect some info before you visit, much more interesting than the bombastic stairs thing

Amazing architecture. Lamego is an adorable town to visit - make sure you go during the week if you want to do a little shopping - everything is closed on Sundays - but its all good and fun

We were fascinated by the cathedral at Lamego because it appeared to still be in the 18th century with a large open plaza in front of its arched entrance and heavy thick stone columns inside the building. The original cathedral was built in 1129 by...More

Centrally located, peaceful and cool inside . Glorious ancient stonework . Decoration not too overwhelming. Look up at the beautiful frescoes on the ceiling. A great refuge from the heat or the world outside.

Lamego's Cathedral is a Gothic church built in 1129. The Tower is original and the rest of the temple got modifications in the 16th and 18th century. The interior is essentially Baroc and the ceilings painted with Baroc motifs by the italian architect Niccolà Nasoni...More

A lovely cathedral very historical with beautiful chapels . Take a walk around the knave and side chapels more confessional boxes that I have seen for a while they were old and eerie!
