Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice statue of the writer and politician given pride of place right in front of the majestic city hall of Porto at the top of Placa Liberdade.
It's right beside the oft photographed blue Porto sign too that attracts tourists like bees to honey. I get the impression quite a few don't even notice this statue because of the allure of the photo-instagram friendly Porto sign. Which is a pity as it is a really beautifully forned, detailed monumen in it's own right and in my opinion worth your time and attention.

Almeida Garrett, (1799 - 1875), was a writer, playwright, poet, politician and one of the greatest Figures of Portuguese romanticism. This bronze statue of him is located directly in front of Porto City Hall and at the head of the impressive Avenida Aliados. It's an impressive statue and if you take a photo of Porto's Camara building (City Hall), it's almost impossible not to include the statue in it.

Monumento Almeida Garrett is located in front of the Porto City Hall, a beautiful building, in one of the city's largest and loveliest squares. We came by this area several times during our stay in Porto. It's in the city centre surrounded by large shopping centres, hotels, smaller shops, the Sao Bento railway station nearby and many attractions. The monument, a bronze statue, is a nice gesture to a great Portuguese man. Almeida Garrett was a poet, orator, playwright, novelist, journalist, politician, and a peer of the realm. He was one of the most important promoters of theatre in Portugal. He is considered as being the greatest figure of Portuguese Romanticism and a true revolutionary and humanist. This area is certainly worth visiting and also worth viewing this lovely monument.

A veritable polymath, as a statesman, writer, orator, playwright, he distinguished himself during his illustrious lifetime.
Born in Porto, thus it's fitting that this fine tribute to him is in a lovely placement in front of the gorgeous City Hall.

The viscount Almeida Garrett can boast many titles - poet, orator, novelist, journalist, politician, nobleman, revolutionary and humanist to mention a few.
He lived from 1799 to 1854 and was of course born in Porto - which is why he has such a prominent place in front of the Town Hall.
The sculpture is in bronze was put up in 1954 at the 100 anniversary of his passing. The front is quite elaborate but the also very visible back side is still very rough.

Almeida Garrett was a Viscount who is very important for today's national poetry. He was also an orator, a playwright, a novelist, journalist, politician and more. A man of arts and a man of speech!
The locals study his work from the 19th century still today!
Besides just watching over this statue, take his book called "Frei Luis de Sousa" and read it. It's incredible!
More importantly, this statue stays close to the Clérigos Tower, in the big avenue close to McDonald's.

This bronze monument is located in front of the City Hall.
Almeida Garrett (1799-1854) was a remarkable writer, playwright, poet, and politician born in Porto.
The monument was inaugurated in 1954 to mark the centenary of his death.
Now it is a popular selfie spot because of the big blue letters P-o-r-t-o.

Statue located in front of the Town Hall building overlooking the square in front. It deserves a photo, since if you are in Porto for a few days you pass it more than once.
