Entry to the church is included as part of visiting the state house opposite. The house is ok, with a few interesting artefacts, paintings and religious icons to look at. Going into the crypt you can see the resting places of hundreds of people, including...More

This chuch has stunning golden Baroque interior and a wonderful carved altarpiece: the Tree of Jesse. There is also a small museum attached. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip.

The glittering gold didn't appeal - it lacked charm. Not worth 7 euros entrance - far nicer churches to visit free.

I am not really much into visiting churches but this one from inside is spectacular. All covered in gold- 700 kg! - and it looks amazing. It cost 7 euros to get in but it's worth it.

Another Porto MUST. A fabulous church with an unbelievable amount of gold leaf. The museum was good but the crypt could be skipped. It’s just around the corner from the Palacio da Bolsa. The views from the porch across the river are also fabulous.

Interior is really cool, lots of gold leafing. Only issue was that you had to pay to get in and there was not too much incentive to stay very long. Overall experience was positive tho...

We saw a lot of monasteries and churches in the centro region, Porto and Lisbon, and this was in my bottom 5. My wife and I just didn't go for the baroque dripping in gold look. Also, it was expensive to get in, and you...More

Only church that charged admission. Gothic style and huge built 1383-1410. Lots of marble and gold leaf. Almost unchanged since the 14 th century. Well worth a visit. Guided tour might be interesting too. Catacombs with, as one teen exclaimed, had a pile of bones.

The effect of all the gold leaf is severely diminished by being quite dusty but the decoration is still completely over the top and well worth seeing. No photography is allowed inside the Church.

First day in Porto and of the five or more churches we visited, this was the only one with an admission fee ( of €7 for entry and € 1 for the pamphlet), and we were a bit surprised. In the side church above the...More

Maybe on books. It is no longer a church. It's a museum.

Online. Or you can pay for postcards. It is a world heritage site so I would just grab an online pic and use it on your posting.
