Our expert guides ensure you will experience unique Moments, thus making you feel our ambassadors back in your hometown. Our private walking and food/wine tours allow you to discover Porto and its culture in a very pleasant way, taking you to places that only a local knows. We feel proud and privileged to live in this "ancient, very noble, always loyal and invincible city of Oporto" so we receive our visitors as friends and strive to keep this relationship for long. We were born in Porto and our family is from Douro Valley, so we are very proud of it and feel entitled to guide you around. We also privilege the contact with local stores and small producers in order to develop local economy. A new experience to your senses!

Fantastic tour. Best guide ever!

We have traveled to dozens of countries from Asia, to Europe and the Americas over the last 40 years and have had many guides on those trips of all abilities and qualities. Oporto & Douro Moments stands out as unquestionably one of the best we have ever experienced. The professionalism of the organization was top notch and more importantly the quality of Joao, their guide and the breadth and depth of the tour itself was exceptional.

Joao picked us up in Oporto and spent the day with us driving through the Douro Valley. We visited vineyards, wineries, towns, villages, a wonderful restaurant and the mountain tops. His knowledge of Portuguese history was extensive and nuanced and his knowledge of the current state of his country was equally impressive as was his knowledge of Portuguese wines which he was able to put in the context of other European wines of different eras. He was articulate and described his subjects with great forethought. His depth and breadth of knowledge was most impressive as was his engaging manner. Frankly we would recommend Joao and his team without reservation for any thoughtful people who seek to learn and understand this wonderful country and region.

Breathtaking views and wonderful food and wine tour

Wonderful Day in the Douro Valley! Our tour guide, Joao, was a pleasure to spend the day with. He catered to our every wish, providing a tailor-made tour of the Douro Valley. He is extremely knowledgeable about the wine making process and took us for several delicious tastings of wine, port, and Olive oil. He also arranged for an scrumptious lunch with wine pairing at a fantastic restaurant. The scenery was breathtaking, and we enjoyed it even more on a short cruise on the Douro River. Very memorable experience! Thank you Sara for arranging this for us on fairly short notice, and thank you Joao for an amazing day!

A highlight of our trip!

We had a fabulous full day private tour of the Douro Valley that included two winery tastings, a delicious lunch and a one hour boat ride. Joao, our guide, was interesting, smart, kind and full of thoughtful, meaningful information. We learned a lot about the history, culture, geography, grape growing, wines, and economics of the Douro. Would highly recommend this company.

Smooth transfer from Douro to Lisbon

João was on time and courteous, knowledgeable with regard to some of the history of Portugal and the various areas we passed through on our transfer.

We had a stop scheduled in Coimbra between our pickup and Lisboa, however nothing was planned for our stop which was disappointing. Clearly there was a miscommunication as to what a “stop” entailed as we thought there would be some tour or at least a lunch restaurant selected. Be sure to clarify! (I didn’t.)

João was very helpful in providing some suggestions while we just wandered and explored the city.

Amazing private wine tour of the Douro Valley.

My partner and I did the private wine tour with João in mid-October and it was a phenomenal experience. He took up to two wineries, a port tasting location and a fantastic lunch. João was so knowledgeable and just all around wonderful. I highly recommend anyone who wants to get to know this wine region go with them. It certainly isn't cheap but they are worth every penny and more.

Best private day tour to Duoro Valley with my husband

This tour and company was recommended by a close friend and from initial contact we knew this would be perfect. Sara, Rui and Joao (our guide for the day ) were efficient, professional and beyond accomodating to my husband and my requests for the day . Joao was the perfect guide - his passion for the valley and Portugal added a special touch and uniqueness to our day . Our visits to special local small wineries, tastings and experiences were perfect. I would highly recommend you check them out - you will not be disappointed . We hope to be back to Portugal again and see you all again too!

Wonderful tour

We had a private tour (just two of us) of the Douro valley. Our guide, Rui, was wonderful and informative. The planned itinerary was excellent and we got an excellent overview of the area--and the wines.

Great trip with a fantastic guide!

We enjoyed a fantastic trip. The first stop was at Quinta do Cume, a relatively small-scale wine producer, where we witnessed the vinification process and, overlooking the vineyards, tasted the range of white and red wines. The next stop was Quinta de Tourais by the passionate winemaker Gernando Coelho who, also on a modest scale, produces extremely original wines with beautiful labels and painted bottles. The tour ended at Quinta da Pacheca, founded in 1738, and with 75 hectares it is one of the larger producers of white, red and rose wines and port. We enjoyed lunch at the intimate family restaurant Toca da Raposa where we enjoyed original regional dishes, of course accompanied by local wines and locally produced port. Along the way we made a number of stops to admire and capture the beautiful panoramas of this beautiful part of Portugal.
João was a great driver and a well-informed guide who informed us during the trip about many details about the Douro area, Portuguese wine culture and life in Portugal.
Highly recommended!

Great Day in Douro!

We loved our private tour of the Douro Valley with Joao! It was the perfect first full day of our trip! We got picked up from our hotel in Douro and visited 3 vineyards plus had an amazing lunch. We loved learning about the wine and about the Douro valley from both Joao and the employees of the vineyards. It was the perfect balance of alone time with my husband and time with others on their on wine tour! We would definitely recommend to others visiting Douro or Porto!
