Looking at them from the front, this is the church on the left. It does not happen every day to see two churches divided only by the priest's apartment.

In this church you literally hot bling because of amount of gold pattern everywhere. You could say that all churches in Portugal are with such decor, but this is a whole new level.

The altars of the church are covered in gold and very majestic! It is really impressive and worth a visit. It can be touristic though.

What looks like one enormous church is actually two separate buildings. Igreja do Carmo and Igreja dos Carmelitas are both extravagant sights to behold. Admission to the churches are free. Igreja dos Carmelitas is on the left and Igreja do Carmo is the one on the right as you face them. Igreja dos Carmelitas is NOT the one with the blue and white tiled side wall (azulejo) . Many people here a making a review for the wrong church!! Look very carefully between the two church, in the middle there is a house that’s separates the two churches, no more than a meter wide. It’s known as the hidden house. The house is so thin, it’s easy to mistake it for a wall. It was even inhabited up until the 1980's. Now, visitors can buy a ticket to peek inside this unusual building. For a nominal fee you can visit the the narrow house, the churches small catacombs, go to the portal behind the statue of Christ (in the igreja do carmo) so you could kiss his foot, see a mummified woman, etc. It is worth your time to stop, and visit the 3 attractions (Igreja do Carmo, Igreja dos Carmelitas and the hidden house between the two!

The outside tile work on this Church is a beautiful sight. We walked around to a couple locations to see it from various angles. The inside of the church is also pretty spectacular. Certainly worth a visit when you are in Porto.
