These Funiculars are really pretty cool - one goes up, counterbalancing the one going down at the same time - passing (obviously) at the half way point. 2 euros one way, or 3 euros round trip - we took the beast up, and walked down...More

It's the best way to get to the basilica, with only 3€ you get a round-trip and it's a nice and short trip to the top. Pay attention to the schedule of the funicular. Lunch hour is between 12pm - 1pm

Visiting Viana do Costelo and saw this church on the hill. Long twisty drive to get to it but well worth it. For 1 euro you can visit the very top, which we did. Amazing view was the reward after the climb. Good photo opportunity!

Yes you can drive up to the Basilica de Santa Luzia, but this is good fun and is not expensive. Fabulous views from the top

Parking next door is very convenient (but you need a small car to get into it and into its spaces.) This is the longest funicular in Portugal but you don't wait long. Mid September on a Saturday, it was not crowed at all.

Quick and save the Funicular brings you up to the top to see the Basilica of Saint Lucia. Fee is very low, cars are modernised.

Terrific value (€2 for an adult) and unparalleled views from the top. Definitely worth going in the church and paying another couple of Euro to go to the top of the dome.

Its very steep and very quick and costs 2euros - 3 euros return Beware the last run is about 7.30 p.m. and a taxi into Viana is about 7 euros
