You can get to Zappeion Megaron by tram from Syntagma Square or by just simply walking if you are in the area of Panathenaic Stadium or National Gardens. The building is a conference and exhibition center, so nothing to visit in particular. Nevertheless this is a very nice neoclassical building with an interesting history: it was built by the generous... More

Located in the center of Athens, Zappeion Hall is the preeminent venue for domestic and international events in Athens, within a short walking distance from the Panathenaic Stadium of the 1896 Olympic Games, and Syntagma Square, surrounded by over 200,000 square meters of gardens with meandering paths, fountains and over 70 works of sculpture.

We dropped in this building on our walking from the Parliament to the Panathenaic Stadium. It is OK but do not forget, it is a conference centre.

We missed the exhibition but we were able to look inside and it was wonderful. Quite an impressive building. The story about it was very interesting but I'll let you know discover it yourself.

located in the National Gardens, between the Parliament (Syntagma square) and the Temple of Olympian Zeus, this is an interesting site in the middle of the gardens, with a big square in front where you sometimes may see soldiers exercising...

We visited for our annual general meeting and needed space to translate and host a client event. The translation service was excellent and we felt like we had our very own UN or EU Council chamber! Then we hosted a client event in one of the adjoining halls with both excellent catering and support services needed to run such an... More

Zappion is a donation of Evangelos Zappas, that was built in 1888. It was the first building concerning the revival of the modern Olympic Games of 1896. It's a characteristic sample of neoclassic style constructions. The space around, is very nice for walking all year long, especially to have some rest after wandering in the center of Athens. Behind it,... More

Staying in Syntagma

Neighbourhood Profile
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
