This building is situated on a lovely park with greenery and fountains. The outside of the building looks nice and good for photos. The inside, well it has a lovely ceiling in the entrance but that is as far as you can go. Not very exciting at all but if you are there then may as well have a look,... More

We cruised around with Scooterise and stopped of as part of the tour. Interesting history as it was built for the modern day Olympics.

We strolled past here on our way between sites and thought the building to be stunning. We weren't allowed in (even when we asked if our 5yr old could use the loo), but you can still appreciate that it's an impressive site.

We walked around the "king's garden" first. Me, my MIL and my two little youngsters. After that we ended up at Zappeion and decided to try the cafe for lunch. I had a ceasar salad (too much mayo, wish it came on the side but overall wasn't bad) I got the meatballs and chips for the kiddos and they ate... More

We visited that conference center for a meeting this month. There is parking and the staff is friendly. The room is spacious, clean and can accommodate more than 100 seating on tables. The atmosphere outside is natural between the trees, the food is really delicious and the staff friendly.

I had the chance to visit the Oinorama at Zappeion. Oinorama is the wine exhibition where many wineries from Greece show their wines to the public. If you are in Athens during this exhibition don't miss it! But also at other days you can visit it and check out the great architecture of the center.

The building itself is impressive. It was a great place for an event. However, they don't seem to have the funds to maintain the place - weeds growing up the impressive stairs, graffiti on the fountain and stone walls in front of the building, the bathrooms have seen better days.

We were here as we joined the Athens Free Walking Tour which was the stop after walking though the National Gardens. There is nothing much to see. But if you are here, you may want to check on the columns which were designed - Roman and Greek.

The building is attractive, but all you can do is walk around the internal rotunda and that's it. Definitely not worth going out of your way for. Free entry.

Staying in Syntagma

Neighbourhood Profile
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
