We took this tour during our three day visit to Athens. Most of the sites we visited ourselves but we wanted a guide for this iconic site and we were not disappointed. The walking pace was moderate making the tour comfortable and our guide was very well informed and helpful. He brought the tour to life with his eloquent commentary.... More

We booked tours with, Kostas company on the strength of Trip advisor reviews. We booked online 2 months ago and communication was easy and emails were always answered. We met with Marissa for the Parthenon walking tour. Marissa from the start was very informative and asked plenty of questions of us. We could not believe we were at this fantastic... More

Amazing experience - enjoy all of the sights with an expert. Recommend Christmas - Athens is less frantic and the weather is perfect.

We ended up with a private cooking class since it's the slow season. We made seven different dishes and they were fantastic! Our instructor walked us through every step and made it all seem easy. We are very excited to make it all again when we get home.

Dear Despina, Thank you for a wonderful experience with Stavros visiting Acropolis and Agora last Friday. We were delighted to learn so much from Stavros. His style of conveying Greek history is very encouraging to follow up and to motivate ourselves to come back to your beautiful capitol city and your country. Cheers, Andrzej R. Zalucki

Local guides not licensed but very knowledgeable about history and places that we toured. We were led around some out of the way places but did end up at the Acropolis.

I booked this tour with Athens walking tour. We went late October 2016 and it was a sunny beautiful day. It was myself and my husband and we had an absolutely wonderful time with our tour guide Kostas! Kostas is a warm and friendly person and a local Athenian. He knew all the hidden paths in Plaka and the most... More

I am so glad I signed up for the Athens Walking Tour on October 26, and even gladder that the tour guide was Stavros Stavroulakis, someone who knows and loves his city and knows how to tell a story. The tour began in the metro, where the layers of history uncovered during the metro excavation were explained, and ended at... More

Staying in Syntagma

Neighbourhood Profile
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
