We stayed in Kritsa so decided to go up the mountain behind us to see where the locals had their land to work. It was 14kms and took us an hour, mostly in 2nd gear in a little Fiat Panda. But it was worth it....More

The plateau of Katharo is located at an altitude of 1200 meters and it is 26 km from Agios Nikolaos and 12 km from the plateau of Lassithi. The road from Agios Nikolaos via Kritsa village to Katharo plateau is an asphalt road, but the...More

Katharo Plataeu is beautiful landscape, trees are like sculptures, bonzai created by goats that graze around. We have seen many wonderful flowers that grow only in this area of Crete. This is "must see" place.

Hire a car and take a trip to the plateau you won't be disappointed. The scenery is stunning. it is like a trip back in time, this place has probably not changed too much in the last few hundred years.. except for the windmills. A...More
