Church with 3 naves has one of the best preserved frescoes from 13th and 14th century. It is surrounded with olive groves, carob and pine trees. From the main road (from Agios Nikolaos direction to Kritsa), where is a parking place, it takes you just few minutes walk to reach the church. In the small shop next to it you... More

The outside of this little church on the way to lovely little village of Kritsa belies the beauty within. Magnificent old Byzantine murals line the walls inside this church (which is closed on Mondays), each picture worth a postcard shot. The entrance fee is minimal, definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful frescos many in good order, with bizarre images and biblical representations. There is a cafe and two reasonably priced large local craft type shops nearby too. The church is small but airy and it is easy to view and photograph without using torches or flash. There is a lot of damage, but also enough recognisable figures, scenes and pictorial... More

On the main road between Agios Nikolaos and Kritsa this little church is absolutely worth the Euro 2 entrance fee to see the amazing C13th frescoes that cover the interior walls and ceilings. We are lucky enough to be there at the end of October so not many people around and we could linger and marvel at our leisure. If... More

You can get local bus for 2euro from Ag nik to Krista and it drops off outside the church, stay as long as you want, then a 15 min walk into village of Krista with all lace and craft shops is well worth the visit

This lovely old church has a very interesting history. The frescoes on the walls tell many stories from the Bible. The are well preserved for their age.

This tiny gem of a church contains 13th century frescos, about Christ's life, and times. They are amazingly well preserved, and the building itself seems to have withstood time. The building is in or near the town of Kritsa, which is a bit out of the way. If you are heading to the SouthWest corner of Crete Sitia or further... More

A beautiful tiny church with amazing frescos that have withstood so many years. So different from the usual ones dripping in gold that you usually see. Amazing and humbling.

A must to visit this nice place, this chapell, without disturb, very peaceful silence; superb icones, absolutely beautiful; outside, around the church only the cigadas disturb the silence. An entrance is to pay and a gratitude for a candle, if you have a wish.

This tiny byzantine church is a gem. Beautiful frescoes telling in order the history of the Virgin Mary. I was amazed with the details that these frescoes have. Of course, it's in very bad condition, but it's part of the beauty. It's completely remote and in the middle of nowhere surrounded by beautiful trees.
