Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We walked to this market from the town as not far and really enjoyed the time here as we tasted and bought local cheese. As we looked at the cheese we met an interesting Mexican woman who spends half the year in Chania.
The selection of vegetables, honey, cheese, meat and fish as all there, best to go early before too hot.

Every Saturday this street is converted into a wondrous array of genuine local produce. Very good honey from Anopolis: 10 kilos of the sweetest tastiest oranges ever grown for 2 euros....and whole wealth of other things.

as people have mentioned this farmers market takes place only on saturdays on a road off the quiet side of the harbor. it is a showcase of local farmers prized produce. all of the vegetables looked beautiful and delicious and the shoppers all seemed to be locals of Chania. It is not focused on tourists thankfully and gives a glimpse into daily life for the real residents of Chania. A true Farmer's Farmer's market and not the kind we see in the US selling vegan soaps and grain free dog biscuits. Definitely recommended to start off the saturday morning.

There are several local markets on different days in different locations in Chania, but the one to find is the Saturday market at the end of the inner harbour, running the length of Minoos Street. It's a key weekly social event for the town and the market is full of stalls selling locally grown fruit & vegetables (much from the nearby fertile Akrotiri peninsular), local cheese, honey, olives as well as a few stalls selling fish & chickens. Although it is a tourist attraction, and rightfully so, it's overwhelmingly a genuine local market, which gives it so much interest and it's a great place to buy fruit and salad ingredients for days on the beach.

We stumbled upon this market walking from Nea Chora into Chania on a Thursday, and we were glad we did. Amazing fruits, vegetables and produce, all fresh from the farm, and for a fraction of what they cost in Western Europe or North America.

Excellent experience, great quality products at very reasonable prices. Parking is a bit tough sometimes, but worth the trip.

An all weather market (trust me is was pouring rain) but the hustle and bustle makes it a lot of fun and sharing everyones umbrellas made it interesting :)

A few hundred meters of just about everything you can get and very fresh. I can't certify it organic but a local resident we have been speaking to tells me it is is very organic product from the local region.

Vege's, Fish, Cheese, Olives, Fruit, Eggs, Spices and herbs. The norther end also has a clothes market with very cheap clothing and some not bad quality either.

Highly recommend if you are here for a while and need fresh food for your apartment, or just to have fun experiencing the sights and sound and smells of Chania local market place.

The Saturday farmers market in Chania extends for several blocks and offers visitors a wide variety of locally produced fruits and vegetables.

The quality is high and it's amazing how many different items are produced on Crete. It's fun to browse and to buy.
