This folklore museum is itself a work of folklore and a labor of love. Sometimes witty and always delightful tableaus of daily life thoughtfully presented by two women who lived it.

Our family of 5 walked through this small museum. Miniature, "stuffed' people wearing traditional clothing and depicting traditional crafts. No air-conditioning.

This museum was a special insight into a traditional and often unseen rural Greece. The experience was led by the warm and insightful memories and stories of the owner. We felt very privileged to hear about her childhood memories of growing up in rural Greece. Recommend taking a trip to look at the beautiful folk art and instruments of traditional... More

This is our favorite museum in Chania. Highly personal and enchanting. You arrive to the sound of a waterfall running down the staircase accompanied by the sound of an elderly woman creating fantastic naive embroideries of Cretan life on her sewing machine. ❤️

The folk museum was a very pleasant surprise. Situated in a very commercial strip of a very touristy side of town, its content surpassed my expectations. The artefacts cover an extensive area of interests, from artistic folk costumes and carpets, to day to day objects in a countryside home and kitchen. The lady custodian was ready to explain and answer... More

Easy to miss, since it is down an alley leading to the Catholic church, the Folklore Museum is housed in an old house and presents rooms filled with all kinds of things (embroidery, linens, kitchenware, etc.) The lovely lady is one of the few left who practices the fine art of embroidered paintings.

Wife and I both enjoyed this, gives an insight to 'old Crete' before tourism and modern life. Craftsmanship is on display on many levels. Takes no more than an hour.

I popped in for a visit while my husband took a nap after lunch. It was a sweet Museum and worth a short visit but my husband wouldn't have been interested at all. The woman in charge however is Very Talented and her needlepoint artwork is beautiful.
