The residence is kept in perfect condition by the family, you learn a lot about the Greek history of the time and the life and work of El. Venizelos. The guide an amazing woman very well educated. Takes you through the first level and then you are allowed to view the second floor and the attic were a lot of personal belongings are exhibited. It is a must to visit if in Chania. A small store located in the house has several books that can be viewed and purchased in Greek and English as well as DVD.

I don’t claim that we have visited it because we found it closed when we got there, however we had a stroll in the garden with the tombs and the statues.

The point where the house and gardens are located enjoy panoramic views of the city.

Just for the record, it is the paternal house of Eleftherios Venizelos, where he lived from 1880 to 1910, and occasionally, from 1927 to 1935.

An excellent museum with a very informative guide for the ground floor. Includes a lot of pictures and items of Venizelos and the residence is kept real tidy. It also features interactive activities for children.

This is a well presented museum in the outskirts of Chania (bus to Stavros). It tells the life of one of Crete’s and Greece’s greatest statesmen at the beginning of the 20th century through the house which was the family home. Each room is very well interpreted with information boards in both Greek and English. The attendant on reception was excellent and loaned us a tablet computer with maps and information for each room. Don’t forget to visit the garage where you can see the car which was damaged as part of an assassination attempt in 1923. Entrance 4 euros (2 for seniors). Expect to spend an hour here.

We actually found it only because we stay in the area that is true. We really enjoyed visit because of building itself, interesting artifacts and historical value of everything one can see inside. We actually know Crete and Cretan people way better after this visit and we truly enjoyed all that. Recommended.

This house, owned by Venizelos family, allows you to have a glimpse of the life of Eleftherios Venizelos, as well as the historic events of his era. It is excellently preserved, with original artifacts and extensive explanatory panels. The guide from the museum personnel contributed a lot to the experience.

I knew absolutely nothing of the statesman and politician when I walked in the front door of this beautiful home. When I left, I had received a fascinating education on the life and legacy of this interesting man. The house itself is lovely and well-maintained. The layout is easy to follow as you go on a self-guided tour, assisted by a hand held device that is programmed to the language of your choice and a map. Each room holds various artifacts and pieces of history and Venizelos' legacy is mapped out for you. The personnel at the museum are also very helpful and are able to answer any questions you might have. Very well worth going to to!
