Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It is true that, as a beach, there are many better around. It has large stones and can be uncomfortable unless you have the right equipment.
Ignoring that, it is beautiful. The views are stunning, you get to see all the history around you and the water is crystal clear. The sea is warm and feels very safe.
The island gets very hot so this is a nice place to cool down after visiting all the joys of the Spinalonga.

Yes, it is worth it! From climbing all the way up to get a 360º view to diving in the clear waters. Spinalonga, among so many other incredible beaches in Crete, is definitely worth visiting. The one day tour is enough.

Spinalonga itself is lovely and steeped in history but as for a beach, perhaps not, a selection of rocky areas, large rocks where treading carefully you can negotiate your way into some small areas for bathing, not the kind of place you can sunbathe at all really, no sand, lot's of rocks and hundreds of people getting on and off the tour boats from nearby villages and towns.

Spent 3 hours here, the restaurants are very slow in bringing the food, not that it really matters on holiday time is not a problem.

A moving visit to the ex leper colony inside the old Spinalonga fortress can also be a tiring and draining experience due to the heat in the summer. The tour guide recommended taking water with us when we were left to explore on our own. The fortress walls apparently circle the island very close to the sea edge, however if you turn left at the arrival jetty and clamber over the rocks at the base of the wall and around the corner the land opens out into a rocky/sandy beach with tamarisk trees and a cooling breeze . When we visited it was deserted even though the fortress was hot and crowded so we could strip of and enjoy a cooling swim and a picnic. The beach is "natural" with no loungers, parasols or toilets - or people - so take a towel to dry off/lie on and while the beer or white wine is cooling in the sea you can swim in the fantastically clear sea or just simply appreciate the view back to the mainland.

We only spent a short time on Spinalonga beach, beautiful scenery but not much beach. The floating restaurant was great and the food very good.
