This sounded a bit touristy but it turned out to be an excellent tour of the area. We did the 1/2 day tour out of Elunda. It lasts 4 hours on a little train like vehicle that is open sided so you can see everything. There is a stop and 20 minute walking tour of Plaka then you head up into the mountain for several stops in tiny villages, tours of small village churches and farm roads and a stop for lunch at a charming restaurant in one of the villages. You purchase your own lunch (Great Food and Cheap Prices). You are returned to your starting point all for a cost of $20!

What an absolutely great little trip this was ! We had a terrific guide called Constantine who had a lovely dry sense of humour and was extremely knowledgeable. There were lots of stops on the way for some photographs of incredible views with some moderate walking on rough ground at times (take some sturdy trainers). The villages were lovely and unspoilt and you get to feed Sebastian the donkey if you wish (he loves whole cucumbers). We had a final stop at a small village taverna where the food was just lovely. Constantine does a fantastic job of looking after everyone, ensuring everyone is happy and comfortable and is a great asset to the Little Train team. A very enjoyable four hour trip with a lovely breeze blowing through the open train on a very hot day. Would recommend.

We booked the 4 hour round trip on the train and had Constantin as our guide. The whole trip was informative and fun. We travelled to some lovely photo spots and have chance to walk through some lovely Cretan villages and into some spectacular churches. We also got chance to meet and stroke Sebastian the donkey. Would highly recommend to all. And don't forget, wave to the people you pass by!

We took the four hour trip from Elounda into the nearby hills with our three children. We all greatly enjoyed it as it allowed us to see a bit of Crete that otherwise would not be seen from the resorts in the area. It offered good value for money, the taverna for lunch was inexpensive and pleasant, and the guide was friendly. Definitely worth our while.
