Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a place that delivers on a unique and different experience whilst not slighting the comforts. The old-fashioned furnishings, the village-like setup, the goats on the hillsides, the Cretan-style dishes served. I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially on those days when I just wanted to unwind and soak in the quiet country ambience.

On the other hand, as a hub for exploring Heraklion, not so convenient. Outside of town on a winding road with dismal bus service; I'd strongly recommend renting a car if you want to stay here. If all you want to do is hit the museums and gift shops in Heraklion, then stay somewhere closer. But if you do have a car and time, then this will make a good retreat after a busy day exploring.

One last tiny thing that I chose not to take as a negative; the open-air folk craft exhibits had no signage and the staff had little information (or interest!) about such things as bus schedules or hiking trails or local sights. Think of yourself as an anthropologist teasing out information about the society you are visiting and this, too, becomes merely part of the total experience.
