    Nice museum, great technology.
A small but very interesting museum. Be amazed at what the ancient Greeks could build and how advanced their technology was considering this is from the 3rd century BC. Very nice staff who will alsof hold a small demonstration of how some of it works. Plato even had an alarm clock with a very annoying sound but unfortunately no snooze button

Ancient Greek lovers will adore this museum
Small but fascinating museum with Ancient Greek technology that has been loving made by one Greek man who did years of research in order to uncover these amazing machines. The staff will operate some of the machines if you ask. Coffee and refreshments upstairs in the cafe. Great for a few hours while in Heraklion. Kids and big kids who love Ancient Greece will adore this museum.

Extremely well done museum- a true gem, great for school aged kids and older
This museum is truly amazing. We came as a group; 4 adults, 5 boys ages 3-10. We came on a whim after walking by it, but I feel like it should be in every guidebook for Heraklion. It is a beautiful restored building filled with working models of many examples of Ancient Greek technology, complete with detailed and interesting explanations and videos (written in English as well as Greek). The owner, Tomas, was amazing. He and his assistant gave tons of demonstrations that he let our kids participate in and answered all our (many, many questions) in a way that was very engaging. He was so friendly and knowledgeable. Everyone loved looking at the models and videos, and the adults and older kids loved reading all the explanations of the technology. At the end, Tomas introduced us to some ancient Greek board games, and then let our boys play with them while the grownups sat outside the cafe on the second floor, drinking coffee and lemonade. We ended up purchasing a few to bring home, along with a book about these inventions, which are some of our favorite souvenirs from Greece because they feel so authentic.

A hidden gem in the city centre
This museum is amazing! The staff is really helpful, they demostrate most of the machines if you ask and ready to answer any questions in perfect English. Even though the museum is only two rooms, you can easily spend 1.5 or even 2+ hours because there are soo many inventions to marvel at! We accidentally found this place on google but it would definitely deserve more recognition - a must see for everyone interested in the lives of ancient greeks and/or technology.

    A must do experience!
What a great place, full of genuinely interesting information and demonstrations about the history of technology and the huge impact of the Greeks. Managed to keep a family with 3 teenage kids occupied for a good 2 hours. And it has a lovely outside terrace for drinks and games on the second floor. It doesn’t feel like your usual museum - would highly recommend.

    Super interesting but super small
This is an excellent little museum with interesting and informative displays. I took my nephew as my one son is a luddite. As interesting as it beware it’s very small. We were in there for 20 mins. We were the only two and the lady on the door made an effort to explain the displays and even put on a demo of how some of science works. We piggy back off the back of the Archeological Museum which is a 10 min walk. Shame this one is so small, I found d it more I interesting than halls and halls of pots!.

If you have any interest in ancient technology, this is a ‘must see’
A small museum filled with fascinating exhibits of technology developed in Ancient Greece. Some of the exhibits are ‘hands-on’ and there are also demonstrations by the staff. Definitely worth a visit. Note: the museum is on two floors but there is no elevator.

Do not miss this fascinating museum.
Excellent museum for those with a curious mind. I enjoyed this much more than the archeological museum. The fact that there were such amazing minds in antiquity is astounding. So many inventions that I wish were still in use today. I mean who would not want a wine serving automaton or a jug that pours wine by which hole you cover?

    Fascinating
We really enjoyed this museum. Everything has an English translation & is well explained. There are several practical demonstrations to try out. Although this is a brilliant science museum we felt it also helped explain how Greece developed historically at the leading edge of science. Incredibly, so many of these early inventions, lay the basis for our modern science.

    Fascinating museum
Fascinating museum. It's best to visit on the weekend when there aren't large, noisy school groups there. There are models (many working), descriptions and videos of the many amazing examples of Ancient Greek innovations. Interesting that some of them were for the masses to think there were miracles. There is a small discount for seniors including non-EU ones [€5 instead of €7].

The museum is is interesting because it associates Ancient Greek technologies, cafe and souvenir shop in a small area. The technologies dominate of course.
