Worth a visit when in Rethymnon, the fortress wasn't spectacular but there were cute cats and the landscape to the sea and the city was gorgeous! We didn't learn much of it's history without a guide so I would recommend taking a guided tour!

Local history & nice sightseeing. It's the only monument in the town, besides the old town & the venetian harbour

The largest Venetian fortress on Crete. You are able to explore and appreciate the military significance of this site.

Worth 4euros for a wander around these impressive walls with good views. It’s a shame that the signage has been graffitied and damaged.

This fort is okay but lots of the churches are locked so really it's just a walk around a ruin. The remains of the mosque are worth a visit..Shame the church isn't open.

Probably the highlight of the cultural/ historic/ archeological of Rethymno. Well worth a visit. Spectacular views. Don’t visit in the height of the summer heat.

The Fortezza sits squatly above the small Venetian harbour and the winding streets of the Old Town {which is nice enough but doesn't feel that old}. The Fortezza a pleasant place to walk around and enjoy the atmosphere and the views. There has been minimal...More

Worth a visit! Nicely laid out and easy to walk around. It is important to note that it has not completely been re-built. Some areas are still 'ruins' but if you try to imagine what it might have been like as an active garrison, it...More
