Full-Day Santorini Island Trip from Crete

37 reviews
Swap an independent ferry trip to Santorini from Crete for a full-day tour that includes a cruise and sightseeing once you’re there. Avoid the hassle of arranging your own cabs or buses on the Cycladic island; and simply sit back and admire its whitewashed clifftop towns as you sail the caldera. Then, enjoy a coach tour with time to stroll in the capital, Thira; Oia, and along the island’s clifftops.

The museum is not very big, but really well arranged, and the exhibits are well presented and labelled. Its definitely worth a visit if you are at all into ancient history.

Great displays in greek and english. Took me about 25 minutes to walk around. Be cautious when taking photos in most museums as you are not allowed to take pictures of certain items. A symbol of a camera with an x over it is a clue. I was so excited to take photos that I was reminded by staff...oops!

This compact but wonderful museum houses many treasures from Neolithic Crete, through Minoan times, and onward to Roman, Byzantine, and Venetian times. I was very impressed with the mosaics and the small collection of Minoan Seals. There's a lot to see and the staff are super helpful. The museum also sits in the heart of Old Rethymno, and even the walk to and from is a joy. Don't miss it.

Recommended. This is a compact little exhibit that takes you from prehistoric to more modern times with lots of displays. It is good value for money (1 or 2 euros is practically free) and a peaceful oasis from narrow busy streets outside. The air conditioning was nice, too! The store across the street is worth a visit. The whole experience can be completed in about 30-40 minutes, even if you are a history nerd like me who reads every single explanatory note. Wish list: larger font on the explanations, which I had to squint to read. Also a public restroom and drinking fountain would sure be nice additions.
