Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We arrived to location by boat. The setting is stunning, beautiful beach with crystal clear water. The restaurant and beach bar is beautifully designed with great beach vibes but unfortunately that's where the positive feedback ends. We decided to have lunch so ate in the beach bar. Waitress was not very friendly and seemed to be put out anytime we asked her for anything. A member of our party has coeliac disease and waitress couldn't understand what we were talking about and made no effort to get advice from other staff. Ordered 3 salads which were basic and overpriced. We then ordered 4 burgers and fries which were tasty but took 45 minutes to arrive ( beach bar was empty at this stage). If waitress was more friendly and efficient we would have given some rating other than terrible!

As we spent day at the location we chose to eat in the evening at the restaurant next to the beach bar. We hoped we'd have a better experience but we didn't and should have not returned after our lunch experience. Again, the setting of the restaurant is beautful but that's as much praise as I can give it! The waiter was appalling. He was rude, rushed and couldn't wait to get away from our table. No welcome, no nice to see you, nothing. It felt like we were putting the waiter out by being there. Some drinks arrived, some didn't. It was all a bit haphazard. The food was not good, overpriced and lukewarm. Only 1 option on menu (steak) for someone with coeliac disease. Surprisingly it was the most expensive option! We spent 18 days in Greece, visited 10 different islands and had incredible dining experiences everywhere we went. Our meals at Koundouros Beach were the worst & most expensive meals we had during our time in Greece. Would not recommend at all. Lovely place to sit on the beach but BYO food with you!

Great beach to swim and enjoy the bar but pricey umbrellas and sunbeds at 18 Euro / set. Needs reservation.

This beach is in southern Kea, easy drive and so worth it. They have pay for chairs or there is a free spot, bring your own umbrella, as the sun can get hot. They have a good restaurant for food and drinks, so that is very easy. The bay is great and easy to swim and/or snorkel, great way to spend the day.

Visited this beach right after a tiring hike in Karthaia. Nice beach to refresh before heading back home. Porto Koundouros offers a set of beachware (two reclining chairs and an ombrella) for 15 euros. The restaurant has food and drinks on offer. We only spent about an hour here but you can certainly spent a whole day if you feel like it. Really pleasant ambience.

The beach, actually the entire bay is nice. It's protected almost from all weather's except S or SE. However during the period Jul-Aug there are so many boats that you need to be careful. One more disadvantage is the beach bars that they hold almost the entire coast line thus no place for you Kiddo. Best period Jun's weekends or early Sep.

Best beach bar in the island with great music, the beach itself is not that great but at least it's very clean. Photos attached

An excellent beach, sunbeds are available at a price (E14 each per day - but you do get a bottle of water!). The sea is shallow sloping, and the beach and shallow water are excellent for children. There is a water sports centre on the next bay - a mere 7 minutes walk).

We had one of the most calming days at the beach at Koundouros. Even though it was a windy day in general, down at the beach everything was calm and relaxing. The water was very clean, the noise at the beach was kept to reasonable levels, and the service at the seabeds was very good.

Even though I believe it is a long drive from the port, the experience compensated us completely.

It is one beach we would return to.

You couldn’t find a more perfect Aegean beach than this one on Kea, where there are many, many beautiful beaches. It’s a winding drive over the mountains to reach but well worth it. There are sun beds for rent, and a nice restaurant and bar, plus efficient food service you can order from your sun bed. Very clean facilities. My only criticism is that they play music, kind of an electronic mix that seems totally superfluous (and annoying) when all you need is quiet and water. If you want to skip the rental fees (and the music), there are plenty of places, some shady, to park your beach towel for free.
