Having walked the 2.5km from the bottom of the Butterfly Valley (which is a must and absolutly stunning.. see my other review) we made it to the too and discovered this gem of a monestry, free of charge to walk around and take in the spectacular views, it oozes history. Since the valley of butterflies is one of the most visited attractions in Rhodes, it is definitely worth to visit this monastery that is located on the top of that valley. It is interesting that this little place is actually monastery, since commonly monasteries are considered to be large buildings. Pleasant monastery courtyard with little church in the middle. Definitely worth to stop here. There is also parking place in front of the monastery.…

This is a beautiful monastery, The design is very much like many other monasteries, but I am amazed by them all. Considering most were built over 100 years ago and they are preserved beautifully.

Visited with hubby last week having walked through the Butterfly Valley first. There is however, a mini Butterfly Train available on a circuit to take you if you wish. The monastery is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and was built in 1780. There are lovely views from the monastery across to the Dodecanese islands & Turkish coastline. Inside the little monastery it is quite beautiful and it was lovely to sit outside and reflect for a little while. Toilets are available. Spotted refreshment machines and the usual souvenir shop!…
