Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I am writing again for the lake of my heart as it is about the lake where I used to live by....It is strongly recommended all year round as the view is really amazing with all mountains around from the one side. From the other side depends where you are walking. There is the castle, the coffee shops, the fields. Do not leave the city before having this experience and of course do not leave without a visit in the picturesque island! One day for both experiences.

The island in the middle of Ioannina's lake is a lovely place to spend a sunny morning or afternoon--perhaps with lunch at one end of your stay. You reach the island by a public boat that runs every half hour or so, and you can visit the Ali Pasha Museum, do a little shopping, and walk all around the scenic island, dotted with working monasteries, open during part of the day. It's also fun to wander the islands small residential neighborhood.

The 10-minute crossing (2 euros per person) allows you to visit this small island in 1 hour. After quickly passing the first streets lined with tourist shops, we walk through small streets lined with houses with slate roofs. It is possible to visit several monasteries, notably PHILANTHROPINI, dating from the 13th century and which contains magnificent frescoes. Byzantines from the 16th century.

The lake of Ioannina is very beautiful as long as there is no fog, which is rare for you to be able to see it. But even with fog it has a special beauty. Ducks and swans add an extra touch of beauty. You can also cross it by boat and go across to the islet. The ticket was 2 euros per person per route. It has cafes along the lake and horse-drawn carriages!

We visited the islet of Ioannina as a family of four. All the sights were very beautiful and interesting! We did not like the food in the tavern we ate in the main square as there was no quality in the food and the portions were relatively poor for their cost! We also bought sweets from the first shop you come across as soon as you arrive. But you try and others sell you.
In general, only the landscape and the museum of the island were worth it.

Very nice lake. Take a small ferry to the island every 30 minutes. It takes 45 minutes to walk around the island. There are three monasteries. In one of them the chapel is beautiful inside and deserted. A magical place. The Ali Museum is also nice to visit.

One of the best waterski sites in the world which plays host to major international competitions. An island with a great start dock. Showers and a huge shaded tent surrounded by trees.
Superbly well run competitions.

Excellent view, but also a walk to enjoy the lake and the landscape with the magnificent trees!! It is definitely worth a trip to the island by boat! Unique destination for all seasons!!
Parking is free! There are many shops where you can eat, but also enjoy your coffee! Expensive prices!

The island is a nice place but to crowded. The stores on the island offer al kind of food and drinks on the street for free, in the hope to sell you some. We bought some tsipouro with a cinnamon taste. When we opened the bottle at home the taste was for sure not the same as the one we tasted on the streets, no alcohol what so ever. We felt ripped of.

Do all the boats and ferries to the island depart from Ioannina town?
Are there other boats that leave from the Northern part of the lake, wich is very, very near the island?
