Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wonderful modern market with many artisanal food shops. Strays from the classic Greek food repertoire, and that is what makes this place so interesting. Honestly I wish our stay in wonderful Thessaloniki was longer so that we could keep going back to this place to try its offerings. Highly recommended.

I find markets always a special place to visit in a city and this is no exception. Located in the center of the city, it is lively and bustling with the different sections selling meat, fish, cheese, vegetables, spices, flowers etc... and it's a great spot for an everyman's lunch at ridiculous prices, compared to the tourist trap restaurants a few blocks away. At ''Bombidia'' my spouse and I had an order of ''soutzoukakia'' (5 sticks of homemade grilled minced beef, with sliced onion, tomatoes , bread served on a parchment paper, a beer and a bottle of water) all for the grand total of 7 Euros! Now it's hard to beat that in terms of price and quality and explains why this place is filled with locals in business attire, families with kids and a few tourists.

I was in Thessaloniki on September 25, 2018.The Modiano Market is totally closed. Nothing there-nada,zilch,tipota. Just a shell of a building. A local yokel told me that all the sellers were moved elsewhere and he didn't know what is going to become of it. A pity. I hope they remodel it and open it again.

You cannot say that you've visited a place , if you haven't been in its central market.
The place is colurful, vivid , full of odours . One can really watch the real every day life of the city in there.
Fruit, vegetables, meat markets, spice traders , all mix in a sweet way.
A ' must visit ' for Thessaloniki.

Just as a recent reviewer said, it's a recently refurbished architecurally pleasant building with a bit of history that looks nice lit up at night. The relatively sparse food stalls inside are 'high end' in terms of swank and prices.
I guess you might as well give it a quick gander as you make your way through the area.....and you will be in the area as it is the location of other sites well worth visiting.
Worth mentioning: ground floor toilets were very clean when we passed by.......

If you want to see the real Thessaloniki, this is the place to visit. Real people selling to real people, not a show prepared for tourists. Nothing more to say.

I just love this place. It is always crowded, loud, fast...
Food is cheep, buy olives and halvah.
All sellers speak several languages, you can taste food, get advice, buy all you want and how much you want.
From the souvenirs, fruit, vegetables, meat, clothes, sweets, you can find here everything you need.
Market reminds me on Turkish markets, full of life and joy.

A bunch of us headed to the Modiano Market on a very hot afternoon to discover a maze of stalls that offered everything you can think of from food to souvenirs. We bought fairly cheap magnets from the first stall and discovered that the people are really friendly! You can also find cosmetic products ( olive oil soaps, herbs etc) at very good prices and fresh olives! I was impressed by the great range of fresh and dried fruits at very good quality and low price. The figs, dates, raisins and halva we bought there were absolutely delicious! They also sell fresh pastry products that looked appealing, but we did not end up purchasing because of the heat! If you are in need of a summer hat, this is the place to go! Will definitely return on our next visit!
