Insectopia will be closed temporarily from 19th of January 2015. Insectopia is a unique exhibition of its kind. It is the biggest and more complete private collection of ant colonies in Europe. The exhibition has been running in the city of Thessaloniki since September 2010 and has been visited from more than 50.000 People. The collection of live specimens consists of ants, mantis, beetles, arachnids, scorpions, phasmids, butterflies, amphibians and reptiles. I have visited the exhibition twice and can only recommend it to everyone who is interested in nature and biology. The most interesting part in my opinion are the ants as they organize themselves so well and find different ways to communicate and solve problems....More

relatively new location so not as many exhibits as they would like - but a good collection of insects and a few snakes.

We want with our kids (6,10,12) And It was very very interesting. We were lucky because we arrived on sunday- The day the feed some of the snakes which was fascinating, but I'm sure that you can watch interesting things any other day as well....More

The exhibition is located in the outskirts of Thessaloniki and is very varied and well organized. The curators were amiable and helpful. Time well spent!!

When me and my 6 other friends saw that this is the No1 attraction in Thessaloniki, we were full of doubts. Is there any chance that this exhibition is better than any Ouzo tavern, fried fish restaurant, food Market, bar or even the white tower...More
