If one does get a chance to visit Ancient Olympia site, then it's worth it.... although mostly all in ruins, but well maintained & if the tour guide is as informative as we had, then you can actually re-live the history as it happened.... all...More

My biggest suggestion, is to hire a good tour guide (perhaps Niki?). Although one can freely visit the site, a knowledgeable guide can bring it to life. Although an amount of reading can make you knowledgeable about the site, it is helpful to have a...More

Amazing to be at the site of the original Olympics and one of the original 7 Wonders of the World. Also, there is a great museum with wonderful artifacts. The ruins are not huge - we visited in late August, and it was quite hot...More

This is one of those places that you must visit coz it is part of history. Nothing spectacular is there, just a tick box place.

Although Katakolon Taxi didn't guide us around the ruins, our driver gave us a fascinating tour guide which allowed us to imagine so clearly what the original structures looked like and how life must have been then. Expected just another ruin but were mesmerized. Recommend...More

We did Ancient Olympia on our own. There are some plaques explaining the different areas. But we saw many guides and regret not having one to get the full experience. The area is very beautiful and there are shaded areas to rest. I was surprised...More

To get the most out of this I'd suggest taking a guided tour. A good guide can turn what otherwise on the surface is a bunch of broken columns into a fascinating piece of history. From the ruins of the Palaestra and the Temple of...More

As mentioned, go when the facility opens. It will give you time to wander in peace and take it the sites. The walking is easy...no hills. Please allow time to visit the museum. Tour groups can be an issue. People are running... More

Hello, the site is amazing, you should allocate a morning visiting the site, there are 3 museums on site, refreshments are available in one of the museum, sensible shoes should be worn.
