With all repect to culture... Just an Ancient greek pilar. Nothing more. Not worth to visit. Go to the temple in the center of island which is much better.

A visit to this ancient site is a must if you go to Aegina. Just take a deep breath and experience the strategic view and the energy. The very intuition with which ancient peoples selected the places to build their castles, temples and settlements

Remains of a Doric Temple of Apollo can be found on the Kolona hill right next left to the main harbor of Aigina, some 10 minutes walk from Ferry terminal. It was built ca 6 c BC, was destroyed and rebuild about 10 times, but now is just one column remains. This is a large archeological area, with lots of... More

There is a small museum at the entrance with explanations about the site in its historical context. Several pieces of artefacts were quite interesting. After walking the interiors rooms, you are taken outside were you can walk the premises of the house and installations. Then it hits you how this is the best spot on the island : large harbour,... There is only one little column left of the temple, but it is in a gorgeous location on a point of land between two beaches. You can get to it directly from one of the clean beaches in the port. It has mosaics from the Jewish Synagogue, which is an unusual sight to see in Greece, right at the entrance... More

The site is interesting with various finds and is placed very nice on the sea shores with superb view, The museum is also worthwhile, not large but with very interesting objects which are correctly presented. Before you leave the grounds, pay attention to the beautiful mosaic of an ancient synagogue.

Often overlooked archeological site. Museum lays out out well, and lots of interesting stuff to see. One column left of temple. Thus the name, Kolona.

What a delight after the crowds and bustle of Athens to spend half a day on this peaceful island. We didn't want to spend most of the day on ferries, rushing around three islands (however delightful), so at a fraction of the cost we caught the regular ferry from Piraeus (very close to the metro station) for the 90' sailing...
