About
Andersen recalled his childhood with nostalgic pleasure. From the age of two until he was 14, he grew up in a poor – but also loving – home which provided him with inspiration for many of his fairytales. Come and sense the really special atmosphere...more

After visiting HC Andersens museum and birthplace, we went to this home. This place is a little far from the 4 other places in HCA trail. Our visit one more time made us love and admire Andersens more, whose humble beginnings created great things in...More

One of the lovely buildings on the HCA trail in Odense. To get the full story, follow the footsteps in the pavement.

OK - it was a pretty damp day we were there, and the whole area from here to the centre of Odense was torn up, hoarded off and under construction so we probably didn’t see it at its best. I’m sure it will be fine...More

We enjoyed walking through the rooms furnished at the time of HC’s life. It is part of the entire HC complex of interesting history exhibits.

Okay if you visit the other places in the guide you get from the museum but not worth doing alone. There is a leaflet with a guide showing the main places to visit in the town if you want to find out about Anderson.

It was great to view his childhood home (between 2-12 years of age). We knew nothing about his life or upbringing, so it was good to see & learn of this. It gave some ‘insight’ into many of his Fairytales

In truth, there is not that much to see here and some of the information offered is, admittedly, based upon supposition. That said, it is lovely to be able to visit and view the very small childhood home of a world wide known giant of...More

The strange atmosphere in this small childhood house is maybe due to the fact that HC Andersen was really a tall man. I guess he moved out really early in his childhood ages. You can visit the house in just a few minutes. Nicely kept...More
