Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A weird little statue, a bit out of the way but far better than the original Little Mermaid in my opinion. I was walking, and short on time, so this felt a bit far but I imagine a bike would be helpful! I was the only person around when I visited. A short while later I saw the original statue, which was absolutely packed. I spent more time at this statue because it was just more enjoyable (different, quieter) to see!

If you’re into abstract art this will be right up your street. There’s also other sculptures nearby, following the same style. It’s a short walk up from ‘The Little Mermaid’.
Overall, I’m glad to say I’ve seen them both and there was nobody there so it was much easier to get pictures.

Good to see the GM mermaid after the little mermaid. Not as nice as the little mermaid but good to read about the short history of the statue. Worth seeing especially if you’re into abstract type art.

Parody, impersonation, some sort of statement? Whatever the purpose of this statue it unmistakably takes the pose on a rock in water from the Little Mermaid statue. It is a fun statue/sculpture to look at and at the time I was the only person admiring it. I don't think many peiople are aware of this statue. There is a small square with similarly styled sculptures

Largely ignored by the mass of tourists, this is worth seeking out. Along with the group of sculptures nearby, it makes for an interesting counterpoint to the other sculptures in Copenhagen, especially the Little Mermaid which is not that far away.

Bjorn Norgaard is a gifted abstract artist with a different view of society who has created a sculpture group called "Genetically Modified Paradise. I came across the granite square with a 400 square metre water-less fountain quite by accident. In its centre is a 9 metre tall figure of Madonna standing on a 40 ton Triumphal Arch surrounded by depictions of Adam, Christ, Maria Magdalena, Eve, The Tripartite Capital and the Pregnant Man. All the figures have been genetically modified and it certainly makes the viewer think of the meaning behind the sculptor's vision. Because the fountain has no water, and the figures quite grotesque I felt that each piece that makes up this exhibition (originally designed as part of the world exhibition Mankind, Nature and Technology for EXPO 2000 in Hanover) is imperfect and it proves that whatever you look like on the outside can mask the beauty hidden inside. You will have your own views.
The last sculpture in the exhibition is actually in the water on its own small island, that of the Genetically Modified Little Mermaid. Her location is only a few hundred meters from that of the well-known Copenhagen landmark The Little Mermaid. Both are worthy of a visit but I enjoyed this exhibition much more, maybe because it was totally unexpected and not mentioned in the guide books I read.

See both Little Mermaids….Thank you HCA for historical and this modernized version.

Kinda cool and a reasonable walk from the better known and crowded little mermaid.

This status is about a 10-15 min walk from the little mermaid and part of an outdoor art installation near some apartments / offices on the opposite side of the jetty. When we were there, no one else was around. A little subversion is good for people & we were interested in seeing this take on the original.

The Genetically Modified Little Mermaid seems to me like a tongue in cheek version of the overrun by tourists Little Mermaid statute. It is located near the square with similar strange creatures. The square is near original Little Mermaid but it's a 25-30 minutes walk and since the bus line that should be there doesn't seem to be working you must double that time. You might pay it a visit but if you don't you are not losing much.

Wish there were more ‘anti’ exhibits out there. 10 mins further from the Little Mermaid with absolutely no one else around and also next to a park with weird, interesting statues
