The equestrian statue of Christian IX, overlooks Christiansborg Ridebane on Slotsholmen in Copenhagen.
Created by Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen, and unveiled 15 November 1927.
Brief history: Following Christian IX's death on 29 January 1906, it was decided to commemorate him with an equestrian statue that would complement the equestrian statue of Frederick VII in front of the palace. An invited competition held in 1908 was won by Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen. A wooden mockup of the sculpture was installed at Christiansborg Ridebane in 1911.

This statue of King Christian 9th is situated at the Royal Palace property. It is nice, but nothing to write home about. AS thousands of horseman statues all over.

It’s a marvellous sculpture in front of the imposing Christiansborg. Unusual for the time, it was created by a woman artist, Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen, and was a first for such a prestigious sculpture.
The King is Regally on horseback, holding the reins in his left hand, with the right down by his side. On the plinth is his motto With God For Honor And Justice.
It was interesting to learn that Anne Marie was most particular about the model for the horse, eventually finding a suitable one in Hanover, Germany. Which did not please Danish horse breeders.
Shortly after the King’s death in 1906, it was decided to erect a commemoration sculpture to him at the Palace. Nearly 20 years later, in 1927, it was finally finished and unveiled.

I think in Copenhagen I saw most of the equestrian statues among the cities I visited in Europe. This is just another one of them.Just a few hundred meters away,in the opposite square there's another one.Nothing special.

Statue of King Christian IX situated in front of the Christiansborg Palace. OK, but nothing to write home about, there are hundreds of such statues all over Europe.

... but required to learn a bit of the history of Denmark. Clean and open, like everything in Copenhagen.

Impressive statue but maybe that’s more about location and the backdrop of the royal place. Good place for a Kodak moment but other than that it’s just a statue and think there are better ones in the city

The equestrian statue of Christian IX overlooks the paddocks of the Royal Stable at Christianborg Castle and was the first equestrian statue of a monarch created by a woman sculptor.

One of the things I love about Copenhagen is the large number of impressive bronze statues throughout the city. This statue of King Christian IX, unveiled in 1927, is located on the rear side of Christiansburg Palace, overlooking the equestrian field. It complements the statue of Frederick VII at the front of the palace. I enjoy absorbing all of the history of these beautiful statues.

This Equestrian Statue of King Christian IX is located at the back of Christiansborg Palace facing and overlooking the horse riding parade ground.
The statue was created by Danish sculptor, Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen, the first female to sculpt an equestrian statue of a monarch, and was unveiled in 1927 some 21 years after Christian IX's death. King Christian IX reigned from 1863 until 1906.
