- DavidLille, France1,593 contributionsSpectacular. If in Copenhagen you simply must visit. Its a very striking building in the middle of a residential area. The yellow brick interior must be pretty unique! You can get there on the train system. Emdrup is the nearest stop.Visited March 2023Travelled soloWritten 26 March 2023
- BrakiWorldTravelerBelgrade, Serbia17,760 contributionsOff the beaten track jewelThis was my third time in CPH, but the very first time I went to visit this unusual and beautiful Church. It is located outside the main tourist area, in the northwestern suburbs, and you need around half an hour to reach it by bus from downtown CPH. Church was built in kind a "brutalist" Gothic style in the 20's of the previous century, so it's around 100 years old. It reminds on Reykjavik's main Church. When approaching it from a quiet residential street it looks even scary, like a movie scene set. Interiors are long and huge, with high Gothic vaulted ceiling - all made of light yellow bricks. There aren't any decorations, so you feel the space, silence, peace and tranquility. The Altar is simple and modest and there're two organs - smaller and bigger one. If you have time, I strongly advise visiting it. It will take around 1,5 - 2 hours of your time including transportation there and back.Visited June 2023Written 29 June 2023
- stuartbeveridge2017Blackpool, United Kingdom4 contributionsA not to be missed delightAn absolutely stunning experienced not to be missed by visitors to Copenhagen. Certainly worth the trip from the centre of town. A beautiful example of how modern churches can be made to look as stunning as those with a long history.Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten 13 October 2023
- PadreJoseLithgow, Australia385 contributionsElegant and inspirationalWe caught the 6A bus from near Torvhallen to Bispepberg Torv on a Sunday morning. The church is very close to the bus stop. Before visiting the church we explored the Bispepberg cemetery, which is really the Grindtvigs Churchyard. The magnificence of the church is framed by the poplars of the cemetery’s central Avenue. The autumn landscape of the immaculately planned and managed cemetery was breathtaking. After spending some time there we headed back to the church. The interior was as inspiring and beautiful as expected. I’ve not been in a building with such soaring elegance. We had arrived at the end of a christening and chatted with parishioners, which enhances our appreciation of the place. This was a highlight of my visit to Copenhagen.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 November 2023

Interesting blend of neo-Gothic and Expressionist styles. A historical gem with awe-inspiring architecture!

Completely built from yellow bricks, where the patterns form a unique artwork just by themselves, highly recommended.

Just outside the center of the city, rather easily reachable by bus, this neighborhood around the amazing church. Worth visiting it.

This is such a stunning building it's hard to describe. I can only urge you to make the effort, get on a bike or the bus and head out. It's beautiful and other-worldly. Very spiritual and calming. Even the toilets are majestic.

Unfortunately when we managed to get here it was closed due to a wedding. It was Saturday. We were disappointed as we wanted to see the inside also. It is quite a walk from the nearest metro station so we didn't come back.

It’s a remarkable architectural achievement dating from the first half of the twentieth century. Named to honour the renowned polymath, philosopher and educator it sits amongst a residential area.
Extraordinarily it is constructed with six million bricks, one for practically every Danish person today.
With an interior that is unadorned with overly artistic works, it is a serene and meditative space. We had it almost to ourselves, which highlighted the tranquil nature.

Yes
How do you get there via public transport from the Nyhavn area. Or what is the closest metro stop to the Church?

Bus 6A, wich has stops on "Rådhuspladsen" (city hall) and "Nørreport", till take you straight there. Get of 2 stops after you pass a statue of an owl on your right - or ask the busdriver to let you know, when it is time to get of.
