I didnt visit the library, (it was undergoing renovation on the facarde when I was there), but the gardens are the best place for Pokemon catching. Lots of folks just walking around the central fountain catching Pokemon. Quite a sight in itself.

I spent about 45 minutes wandering from floor to floor of the library and was just overwhelmed by how beautiful the architecture was. I highly recommend getting up to at least the second floor, where you can get a good view of the readings rooms, windowed front wall, and lower escalators - it's really quite extraordinary. And in the afternoons,... More

We visited this amazing piece of architecture on a cold, wet rainy day. From the outside, the modernist structure looks like a black diamond. The interior is a stunning, light filled space. We sat in the cafe & drank coffee and hot chocolate whilst watching the world go by. The small bookshop was great, we bought some great postcards with... More

The library is located in an impressive new building called "The Black Diamant" located on the Harbourfront and linked to the old National Library. Behind it you will find a really nice and quiet garden which is the perfect place to rest on your way round Copenhagen. The garden is also accesible from the parliament square. Inside you will find... More

As a reader of Kierkegaard, I had to see his statue set in the beautiful gardens outside the Library. The Royal Library is a beautiful old building, and you can walk through to the ultra modern Black Diamond. Not sure what Soren K. would have thought, but I enjoyed the contrasts.

The old library joins with the new in the form of the Black Diamond which is clearly visible, however the old part with its garden is tucked away and an oasis of calm, although that said there were a number of people seeking out characters from the Pokemon Go craze which are apparently located in its grounds!

The Royal Library/Black Diamond serves an enduring purpose but it also offers a wonderful example of modern style in an oldish European capital. Take the escalator up to the first floor and admire the artwork on the ceiling. Look out across the water to another modern marvel, the Opera House. Enjoy good food in the ground floor cafe. Buy something... More

If you like books, architecture, sitting with a coffee by the canal, and gardens, this is a pleasant stop for you. The juxtaposition of the modern library (black diamond) with the old Royal Library was good for a quick stop and some breakfast. The latte and juice we got at the main cafe, and then sitting by the water, was... More

We stopped in the gardens for a contemplative 30 minutes and enjoyed the birdsong and sunshine. Plenty of places to sit and take in the surroundings. We did not go into the library itself, the sight of an armed policeman outside put us off.

Libraries are usually not on the top attraction list when you visit a city. I wouldn't put it on either, but if you have time, this attration is worth a visit. It's not only the books and interior but also very much the architecture.
