Lot of space and distance for visitors in Corona-time
Nov 2020
I like this museum and it was almost 15 yrs ago I was there last time. You can find both galleries and arts from big names from 100 yrs ago and modern art from 2020. There are not many pensionist-look alike staffs following you and keeping an eye on guests every second, which is very nice.

Great visit

I visited with my 19 year old daughter and we had a great few hours wandering round. I can’t profess to be the biggest art fan in the world but I really enjoyed our visit here. Staff were super friendly too.

Somewhere you could spend hours.

Art ranging from the Renaissance to modern day.

All arranged in date order as if you are walking through the decades.

An endless display of wonderful art
Jan 2020 • Couples
You can easily get lost in here for half a day! The place is enormous with a huge range of art from all ages. The building itself is beautiful and not what you expect from the serious stark looking frontage. Brilliant cafe and wonderful bookshop finish off a must see for any art fan.

This museum is really great, inside out! The collection is huge and very interesting. Give it a minimum of 2 hours in order to be able to see the most of it. The museum shop is also good and offers some great books to buy.

Lots and lots of different art. From old to modern. Eventhough you may not be into art it is still a good experience. Only things is that it cost 120 kr pr person, witch is pretty expensive if you ask us.

Worth visiting
Jan 2020
This gallery houses the national collection of paintings. It is essentially European painting since 1400-1500 with the strength being in Danish art. Vilhelm Hammershoi has its own room with lots of examples of his unique artistic style. When I visited on a Sunday morning it was very quiet and I have plenty of time to enjoy the paintings in peace.

Nice small collection of art, below average customer service
Oct 2019
Considering this is the national gallery we were surprised at the relatively small number of pieces of art. The staff greeting us was welcoming, but inside they were much less helpful. The gallery is also a little sterile.
