The beacon of Christianshavn, this church stands out in both its beauty and uniqueness, lovely to look at. You can also go to the top via the stairs that ring the outside of the spire, I didn't but I would imagine the views are fantastic.

Church Of Our Saviour (In Danish; "Vor Frelsers Kirke") is a must if you find yourself in Copenhagen. But not for the fainthearted ;-) I strongly advise not to visit, if you are afraid of heights! But if you are feeling adventurous and you are in fairly good health, it is nothing short of amazing to climb the steps all... More

If you plan on climbing the spiral, you need to be able to handle heights. The last part of the spiral is on the outside. It's a great view, but not for those afraid of heights.

This is truly a landmark in Copenhagen, mostly for the stunning spire . Truly amazing inside and out. We enjoyed our visit even though we didn't climb the stairs.

Wow! You can never expect such entertainment until you are on the spiral roof going upstairs till the last stair! Excellent view to the other part of Copenhagen and probably 20 minutes you will always remember.

Climbing to the top around the exterior of the spire was a completely unique experience for us all (2 adults, kids aged 5, 10, 12). Not suitable if you suffer from a fear of heights or if you are infirm as the climb can get quite 'athletic' in parts. Great value by Denmark's expensive standards.

The visit to the church is self is worth the trip, but the best part of the visit is the walk all the way up the spire. The views are spectacular and the walk itself is fun as you go up thru the bell towers. Note - the climb at some parts gets tricky due to sizing constraints.

This church is a great place to go if want to climb to the top and get a good view of the city. Climb is not too bad although quite narrow at some points. Entry was only 35DKK.

Staying in Christianshavn

Neighbourhood Profile
Christianshavn
Just across one of the many bridges from Indre By, you’ll find Christianshavn. An eclectic area with old brick lanes, houses dating back to the 16th century, and canals which are home to many boats and ships, some of which has been turned into restaurants or even serve as fully furnished homes. The best known attraction in Chistianshavn is Christiania, a “free town” of residents who squat on a former military area. However just a stone’s throw away from Christiania, you’ll find some of the most fashionable waterfront apartment buildings in Copenhagen as well as the splendid Royal Opera House.
