One of the most rewarding short trips we did in 2022, and the first one after COVID-19 pandemic. We would recommend as one of the best friendly cities and World capitals that we have ever visited. We enjoyed every bit of it, but especially the fact that the public urban mobility, combining buses, trams, subway, trains and even boats. This system is excellent and allow tourists to cover a lot of ground in just few hours a day. Price for public transport tickets, (type citypass) that connects you with the multi-modal system, is available and can be bought and used, over the mobile/cellular app. Very clean and secure subway/train/bus and boat terminals or stations, are all very strategically placed connecting the users to main touristic attraction areas and/or monuments, which is a big plus as allows visitors to move around even during rain, cold or heating weather. English, beyond Danish, is the "lingua-franca" in almost all places. People, all over, are tourist friendly and reflect well the cosmopolitan flair of the city. Attendants in restaurants, bars, museums, shopping areas, and in every place I went, speak beyond Danish and English, most of other European languages (I tested mostly with Spanish, Portuguese and German). One place that, definitely, worth visiting whether you have a few days or even full weeks to spend there (as it allows you to do short trips to Sweden, Norway or even Germany, all which you can reach in few minutes or couple of hours by planes, train and/or ferry. We enjoyed a lot!

Having pre-booked our place on their website (a quick and simple process), we met just outside the steps of the Town Hall a few minutes before the start time of 10.30am.

There were about 75 participants and these were quickly and efficiently divided into three roughly equal groups, so about 25 people in each walking group. This proved to be a good number, not too crowded, a manageable size as we walked and easy to hear the guide when we stopped and he talked.

Our guide, Wayne was knowledgeable, entertaining, friendly and spoke clearly.

There is quite a bit of walking, as you would expect on a 2.5 - 3 hour tour, but the pace wasn’t too quick.

There was a comfort break at around the 2 hour mark.

The walk covered not just the history of the city and it’s landmarks and inhabitants, but also touched on Danish culture and the way of life, which was interesting.

Wayne made an effort to chat to different individual members of the group as we walked between stops and that gave you a chance to ask him questions if you wanted to.

Although a free walking tour, it is of course expected that you “tip” the guide at the end with what you think the tour was worth. The guides are self employed, they don’t receive a salary and this what they do for a living (i.e. job), and the cost of living in Denmark is relatively high.

You don’t need Danish Krone to pay.

We were off a cruise ship and only had cash in the form of Euros and Dollars. Both were welcomed, but you can also pay by credit card or debit card, as the guides also carry a card machine - so again, easy to pay and well organised.

This was our first free walking tour and we were impressed and will consider it again in other cities.

We were more than happy with our experience in Copenhagen and would highly recommend this tour.

My family and I did a 1030am free tour of Copenhagen with Claes (green umbrella company). Over 100 people showed up, 1 Spanish tour and 3 English tours divided up into 30 each. Claes made clear at the beginning and end that the free tour is based on tips. Is this lucrative for the guides? If everyone gives 10 Euros, which isn’t overly generous, the guide makes 300 Euros for the 2.5-3 hour tour. They arguably need to be good because tipping is optional. My family and I found the tour to be informative.

The free walking tour of Copenhagen was not only the worst experience I had on my first visit in Denmark, but probably one of the worst traveling experiences ever.
In order to plan my time in Copenhagen in the most efficient way I have booked three different tours for myself and four of my friends with whom I traveled together. A friend of a friend was traveling to Copenhagen at the same time so I booked the tour for them as well, although I haven’t known them before my arrival to Copenhagen. Before the start of the tour the tour-guides Daniel and Rikke told us that 8 of us are the same group and that they don’t allow groups of more than 5 people so we cannot be on the tour but we should book private tour and pay approximately 20€ each. By saying that they were very aggressive and accused us of cheating “the system”. That was not the case since we weren’t the part of the same group, we weren’t even from the same country and we tried to explain that to the guide, but their communication was not kind and with respect but on the contrary, they made us feel like we broke some law and tried to cheat them. They haven’t allowed us to join the tour even when the other group of 3 people decided to leave the tour so the other 5 can join the tour. The company even put us on their “blacklist” so we could not join any of their other tours.
We found that very strange since the concept of the free walking tours are to provide the tourists with the most amazing experience and not to argue with people who gave them their trust and precious time and are ready to pay for their service. We arrived to Copenhagen on vacation to get to know the city and their culture and we had very unpleasant treatment. Luckily we joined the tour organized by the other company and the next few days in Copenhagen have just shown that this behavior isn’t a standard for Denmark but only a rare bad exemption. However, if you don’t want to get stressed and to have bad experience while in wonderful Copenhagen it is better to avoid free walking tours organized by this company.

We did the Grand Tour of Copenhagen which started at 2pm and ran for 2.5 hours with a 15 minute break halfway. Johanna was a very friendly knowledgeable guide and explained the history of the city as well as taking us to places we may not have visited. We were only in Copenhagen for one day so this was a great way to see as much as possible. It also gave us ideas about what to visit when we return! All in all a very good informative walk - recommended

We decided to start our touring day with a new your dedicated to seeing the little mermaid. To be honest, we thought that the tour was going to be heavily centered around Hans Christian Andersen but it turned out to be a very well balanced visit of a section of the city that you don't get to see with the grand tour (which we took later the same day). Our guide Andrés - we took the tour in Spanish - did a fantastic job in engaging the whole group and is the perfect example of how non-natives do become local over time. While the little mermaid might not be everybody's cup of tea, I would say to take this tour nonetheless because it has many things worth seeing besides from it.

We highly recommend doing this tour our guide Laura was very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions and provide recommendations of restaurant’s to visit whilst you are in Copenhagen. The tour was easy walking so you don’t have to be super fit and helps you get a good lay of the land to be able to wander around after the tour. We took in many of the main sites including Amalienborg where the Queen of Denmark resides. Definitely helped us get an understanding of getting around Copenhagen, as well as some of the history.

We did the Christianshavn tour with Andres. Andrés wonderful, the perfect amount of information at each stop. He tells everything in a very entertaining way, he involves the audience, he changes the tone of voice when he wants to pay more attention and even made us warm.
Great, we loved it.
I am an Official Guide to London and this is how I like to be given tours when I am the tourist.

Did the Grand Tour on 21/07 whilst in Copenhagen for a few days to get a feel for the city.
Cannot recommend this tour enough, it was around 2.5 hours but walked at a very manageable pace with lots of stops and was so interesting and informative. Our guide was Jarod who was extremely knowledgable, friendly and engaging and made the tour lively and fun throughout for everyone involved. We learned lots about the city and it’s history and got good recommendations for things to see and places to eat which were much appreciated. Whilst this is a free walking tour, all of the guides do work for tips which we were more than happy to give based on the quality of the tour we received and how much we enjoyed it!

We did the Grand Tour of Copenhagen and loved it. The tour was well organised and very popular (we split off into different groups though so wasn’t overcrowded), so I’d recommend booking in advance on the website. The route covered a lot of the main sites in the city, but also other attractions that you wouldn’t necessarily notice or subsequently visit by just walking around. Rikke, our guide, was excellent: she was very knowledgable and friendly. She gave us lots of information and a real insight into the Danish culture, and was always happy to take questions. Would 100% recommend doing this during your time in Copenhagen.
