Address
Neighbourhood: Christianshavn
Just across one of the many bridges from Indre By, you’ll find Christianshavn. An eclectic area with old brick lanes, houses dating back to the 16th century, and canals which are home to many boats and ships, some of which has been turned into restaurants or even serve as fully furnished homes. The best known attraction in Chistianshavn is Christiania, a “free town” of residents who squat on a former military area. However just a stone’s throw away from Christiania, you’ll find some of the most fashionable waterfront apartment buildings in Copenhagen as well as the splendid Royal Opera House.

I find the architechure interesting, and the position on the axis from the Amalienborg and marble church is well placed.

The Gas Station
Feb 2020
Mockingly called the Gas Station by the locals, the Opera House is best seen from the bankside next to the Queen's residence. The Opera House is beautifully lit in the night and is well worth a visit.

Carmen -- Best ever!
Jan 2020
Visited to experience the opera house and left having seen the best staging of Carmen ever. The choreography was spectacular! In the house itself, there is no bad seat. Excellent sound and view from all sections of the house.

Sweeney Todd - brilliant
Jan 2020 • Couples
Visited here to see the show, was truly great. Apparently the acoustics are on par, if not better than Sydney Opera House. I've had the good fortune to ser a show there also, and in my view this is just as good.

Really liked the fresh and modern design (aware others hate it!) And felt everything worked well. Staff were great and the performance brilliant.

Modern architecture

Super building of the new millennium with the highest degree of design. We observe it by the docks and combine it with the beautiful weather and sea.

Amazing architecture

Amazing building. Very nice architecture . It’s a square/rectangular building but on the inside there’s like a big egg where the theatre is. We had dinner inside on the upper floor with a group of colleagues.
Also nice in the evening when lights are on

Beautiful building
Dec 2019
We did the guided tour in English and thoroughly enjoyed it. It took about 90 minutes and was worth the cost. We were taken into all areas of the building and it was an extremely interesting tour.

Stunning Opera House!
Sep 2019
Currently the most expensive opera house ever constructed, the inside is gorgeous and modern. I saw an evening production here, and took the boat across and then walked back over a bridge. A truly beautiful theater and worth the stop for those interested in the arts.

Extraordinary architecture
Dec 2019 • Family
Went to a guided tour to see behind the scenes - it’s worth knowing the story why and how the house was born. It’s still remarkable how money can be turned into value and this tour will show you many such details.
