The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Indre By (Inner City)
This is the heart of old town Copenhagen, with its blend of charming old buildings and bold new architecture, broad avenues and tiny streets as well as picturesque canals and a modern harbor. The inner city is home to the Royal Danish Theatre, which consists of three buildings, two of which are new and situated on the harbor front. The streets, squares and venues of the inner city and its surrounding neighborhoods, are alive all year round with everything from jazz festivals to outdoor ice skating rinks and parachuting at the lakes right in the center of the city. This compact area boasts beautiful old castles, tranquil parks, and bustling squares where you can always find a bench to stretch out your legs whenever you need a break.

Relatively new place just built 50 years ago comparing hundreds of year history around. Small park with great view to new opera house, hideout for tourists when visiting neighbouring Amelienborg or Fredrik’s church some hundred meters away. Many people continue to Kastelet and little mermaid 🧜 along the cost to park where you have these attractions

A fountain not very spectacular placed in the park of the Amalienborg palace. A round basin and some vertical water jets. Nothing special. Maybe just the height of the jets which, occasionally, is quite high.

I am certain these gardens are delightful to visit -- when things are green and the weather is warm. However, even at the end of October when plants have begun to turn and it is cold and damp, one can still appreciate the design and location of this public space along the waterway.

A nice little park situated near Amalienborg Palace. Great photo opportunities from here looking over the water front towards the Opera House and then back through the Amalienborg Palace square towards the Frederiks Church. This park might be really small but it boasts plenty of statues, flower beds and even a water fountain. I guess that it’s not really worth a special visit but it’s a really nice ‘follow on’ from the Marble Church and Amalienborg Palace. It’s also an enjoyable chill out area to take a moment and just relax from your busy Copenhagen itinerary!

I loved the location between the residence and the water with the view of the Opera House. It is a good spot to relax for a bit even if does get a little crowded...the views draw people in.

We had taken a long walk through central Copenhagen and were heading to see the "Changing of the Guard" ceremony at the Royal Palaces. Having arrived in the vicinity of the palaces well before the scheduled time for the ceremony, we decided to spend a bit of time exploring the waterfront area.
It was here that we discovered the Amaliehaven. This small, modern garden area was an ideal spot to spend some time resting on a park bench, in the shade of the trees. There were nice views across the water, several nice sculptures to be admired and an appealing fountain which at the time of our visit, was providing endless amusement for a large group of young children.
This park is a great place to spend a bit time indulging in some rest and relaxation!

This is not a new park (1983 opened) but it is a really pleasant collection of all the wandering tourist could want: restrooms, fountains, statues, gift shops, and beautiful scenery. This is a popular tourist stop with good reason!

For us, the garden area was a really strong plus. The fountains many layers interested us and we so enjoyed the leisurely walks through the grounds.

As for the mermaid statue, we thought it may be a little overly hyped although it was finely crafted. We much preferred the abstract mermaid on the other side of the quay.

Nice view of the Opera House across the water and it was fun watching families enjoy some me-time with the wee ones.

Small and beautiful park located between Amelienborg palace and the waterfront. It was opened in 1983 on a site of an old shipyard, that was later converted to the port terminal. It is a calm, green oasis perfect for having a rest from visiting the city...

We thoroughly enjoyed just sitting in these gardens and relaxing. There are glorious views of the waterfront and of the Opera House. The flora in the park was also very good.

There are some park benches where you can sit for a while and spend your legs a break. You can see the harbor and watch some boats. Next to the garden is a souvenir shop with a toilette.
