Do not expect real ships. A lot of effort and time has been put into this museum and the historic facts have been well explained. Turned out to be very boring for kids.

We did a little day trip from Sweden to celebrate a February birthday. Had a nice lunch at Cafe Olai and then about 3 hours at the Maritime Museum. One enters and exits through a large and expensive gift shop. Our group was four adults...More

Made the trip from Copenhagen in search of Kronborg Castle and this fabulous place was huge bonus! Beautiful modern architecturally designed venue. Thoughtfully laid out exhibits covering much of Denmark’s extensive maritime history - presented using a variety of media ie. electronic interactive, spoken, written....More

The design of the building is outstanding The exhibition itself is not something remarkable. There is a nice kids corner where children can play.

I grew up visiting various maritime museums in the states. I found this one to be grasping for an identity. The material presented was kind of like having lots of materials and few ideas to bind them together. The most cohesive thought was the argument...More

I did not plan to visit this museum while in Helsingør as my big plan, like most others who visited this town, was to see the famous Kronborg Castle. But I could not help but be amazed by its award-winning architectural design which transformed a...More

The museum is constructed into a former dock/dry-dock, this implies it's limited in space and this is reflected in the types of exhibits. The 'Maritime Museum of Denmark' is a bit of a misnomer, when you compare it with Sydney, Tallinn or Reykjavik where you...More

While the museum design is appealing, the exhibits do not live up to the hype. All the ships are models. Exhibits are in display cases and curated to fault. No large static ship/marine displays to give you a real “hands on” feel.
