I did not plan to visit this museum while in Helsingør as my big plan, like most others who visited this town, was to see the famous Kronborg Castle. But I could not help but be amazed by its award-winning architectural design which transformed a...More

The museum is constructed into a former dock/dry-dock, this implies it's limited in space and this is reflected in the types of exhibits. The 'Maritime Museum of Denmark' is a bit of a misnomer, when you compare it with Sydney, Tallinn or Reykjavik where you...More

While the museum design is appealing, the exhibits do not live up to the hype. All the ships are models. Exhibits are in display cases and curated to fault. No large static ship/marine displays to give you a real “hands on” feel.

This is a very modern museum with changing exhibitions. The location is close to Kronborg Castle and The Culture Yard - all three places are worth viiting

Interesting architecture and open layout inside. The exhibits are thematic rather than chronological and seem meant to evoke an idea rather than convey a lot of info. Worth it if you’re already in Elsinore or have the Copenhagen Card to get in free.

It’s very small and with no actual things of value to see. It’s mostly with replicas and drawing of how the old ships looked like. I entered for free and it’s was fine but I wouldn’t pay for it

Definitely worth a visit in Elsinore. Very close to Kronborg Castle is an experience that is completely different. Especially the architecture of the place is worth enjoying.

Very interesting Museum which you can visit on the way to the Kronberg Castle. Well worth the visit to expand your knowledge of Danish sailing history.

Maritime Museum of Denmark - built in the old dry dock in Elsinore - has a very interesting modern style exhibition and is also worth a visit just to enjoy the amazing architecture in itself!

Hi! The entrance bridge is under construction until July 14 but you can still get an architectural experience and enjoy the museum and the dock.

No, there are no Viking ships there. It's more of maritime trade museum.
