Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice, peaceful place to take a stroll. The view of the castle is great too. Overall a great place to come see if you happen to be in Hillerød.

An amazing place to walk and see views across to the castle. The work that has gone into the garden is impressive and the is lots to see, even in autumn.

Very beautiful symmetrical garden with view on the castle
To access the gardens, from town, pass the bridge and walk to the fountain, keep left and pass the castle.
The gardens are beautiful symmetric with view of the castle in the middle all the time. There are multiple levels with in the middle fountains/ponds, on the sides statues and plants.
If you visit the castle, do not forget to visit the these gardens.
Access is free.

The castle gardens are one of the most beautiful ones we have seen in Denmark. You can see how well they are taken care of. There is a free entry so you can visit them without visiting the castle, which would be a shame of course.

After visiting the renown Castle we enjoyed walks around the equally beautiful gardens.

Coming up to mid October and early weekday it was not busy so experienced a tranquil amble.

Marvellously appointed and extensive it was a delightful tour.

This is a very nice garden. I visited in September so I am sure it is even more beautiful in the spring. It is pretty large and is quite nice to walk around.

Although these gardens cover quite some ground, there are no spectacular elements that compose them. There are a lot of trees, but no elaborate floral display nor interesting water features.
There are some flowers and fountains, but they are rather plain and stop working already in September (time of my visit).

The views of the castle from the garden are good, though.

The access to the garden is free.

Expect to spend between 30 and 60 minutes in the garden.

These are the castle grounds which is beautifully manicured landscape. Unfortunately it was raining the day I visited so I didn't really do a full tour of the grounds, but on a nice day this is a great activity.

In the midst of summer at a very nice day we spent an hour in this wonderful garden after having visited the castle. We liked the scenery with castle, lake, statues, plants giving way to lots of views.

The baroque Castle Garden is a superb exhibition of wonderful flowers in the summer. However due to an attack of Nematoda some parts are under repair this year and early next. Enjoy what there is, just now Rhododendron and the old chestnut trees are in blossom, earlier lots of crocus and daffodils, near the Castle lake.
In the nearby English style garden, nightingales and other songbirds entertain you 24/7.

Sunrise or early morning and also sunset is beautiful, watching the castle and the lake from top of the Jægerbakken hill.

The cottage on top of the hill offers a snack, or a light meal at reasonable prices
