I would thoroughly recommend a visit to this museum which houses the remains of 5 Viking ships and tells the story of their discovery in the water around during Roskilde. Take the train from Copenhagen (ticket covered by Copenhagen card) then catch the 203 bus from the station directly to the Museum (also covered by the card). Take a packed... More

The place to be in the world if you are interested in Viking ships and how these are built. Fantastic craftsmanship is revisited in the living workshops around the museum. Further, you can voyage out in the fjord yourself like the Vikings did 1000 years ago in a replica ship.

If staying in Copenhagen then this is only 25 mins by train and a 10 minute walk. The museum has viking ships recovered from over 1000 years ago. A must see, great for any age, plenty to read and keep busy. Outdoor things too if not snowing!!

Wonderful and perfect location. The shop is fantastic too with wonderful gifts. You can easily spend a day including the restaurant and a visit to the Gas Works (art gallery) and cathedral up the road.

Great museum. Make sure you see the short documentary. And for a bit of fun dress up in Viking clothing. There is also very good shop with all things Nordic. Amazing hot chocolate at snekken restaurant nearby.

This museum may not be to everyone's taste. There are outdoor exhibits of various wooden boats and activities of woodwork, basketwork, sail making etc, that are particularly good for children. Also buildings showing how various types of boats were made. Then there is the main modern museum which houses the skeletal remains of several ancient Viking ships. We found the... More

On a Monday the four of us arrived at 10 to 4 at the entrance. Knowing that the museum is going to close at 4, we asked if we still could enter. "Of course" was the answer of the cashier lady after calling out the full prize for the entrance. Our further inquiry did not soften the ladies heart -... More

A significant find and so much work went into the preservation and exhibit, it would be a shame to miss. A beautiful Mersin building and also great outdoor working exhibits to see. A great day trip.
