Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Last week we booked a dog sledge round trip via With trail adventures. We received a fantastic holiday: professional material, well trained dogs and an absolute motivated and experienced guide: Evy.
We got a stunning trip, in difficult weather conditions, but it was an absolute dream tour. We saw beautifull landscapes, we got sun, snow, wind, fog, drove through the darkness, experienced cold temps, ...
We will certainly go back next year. Thanks you Daniella, Jan, Evi, Piet and of course EVY!

It was a truly amazing adventure and discovery. We did the 6 days tour which includes 5 days with the dogs. Out guide Linda was awesome, caring, knowledgeable and passionate. We spent Christmas in the middle of the trip and the evening dinner was incredible despite the fact that we were in the middle of the snow without electricity. It was a total disconnection from our day to day life, getting back to the basics of warming the cabin, feeding the dogs, cutting wood etc. The dogs were so strong while sweet at the same time, very friendly. The lights during the day were incredible. The stops in the middle of the day making fire in the snow, a different experience again. It was all just amazing, I cannot recommend it more.

The greatest time of my life
Simply the best holiday, we as a family, ever had. White trail adventure is ever so well organized. All guides are ever so helpful, nice and friendly. Do not worry, they answer the same questions again and again in a friendly way. The instructions what to do, are easy to understand. Oh, I have been nervous, but it es easy to get used to the procedures, ever so quickly. So you stand on the sledge and can discover the nature (always keep one hand onto the sledge) of Swedish Lappland. And that is only fantastic, no correct words to describe these feelings. You will become one team with your dogs, the people and the nature. The dogs are all ever so friendly and calm, each of them with a special character, which is big fun to watch them, but they are all nice. We sponsored our favourite dogs as a thanks to all of them, they deserve it. Jan and Daniela (the owners) doing a great job there. Even the cold we got adopted to quite quickly. The equipmennt from white trail adventures keeps you warm. We did see northern lights, if not, I personally couldn‘ t care less, I had northern lights each minute of this trip. We will come back and we normally do not do a trip twice. Thanks to everyone, we have never seen such nature, such naturally friendly people, such calm dogs and driving the sledge wirh them was just fantasic. We loved everything, even the cold.

In 2019 I was with White Trail Adventures for the first time and was able to go on an unforgettable five-day mountain tour with the huskies. Since then I've had the dream of coming back here.
Now it's finally worked out: With a group of five participants, musher Martijn and a total of 26 huskies, we spent five days and four nights in Swedish Lapland. Every single second was fantastic, the combination of the bewitchingly beautiful winter landscape and the energetic huskies in front of the sleigh just makes you happy. Naturally stoned, so to speak;)
Daniela and Jan from White Trail Adventures, together with their great team, manage to have a relaxed, happy and safe time. A highlight were Martijn's fire pits for the lunch break. Thank you to you for this wonderful time.

We booked a weekend with white trail adventures after reading all the good reviews but I unfortunately we were a bit disappointed. I am going to talk about the good things first:
The first and second days of the tour were good, we enjoyed the snow mobile tour and the first dog sledding was good. The camp were we were staying was comfortable and our guide Remi was friendly. Now the negative points, we thought the whole operation was very disorganised. We were 5 people and we had just one guide organising the 25 dogs we needed for the dog sledding tour, cooking for us, feeding the dogs, cleaning everything. The first day we were waiting for an hour and a half while our guide was organising the dogs by himself for us to leave. On the second day the dogs had to cover about 30km and it was extremely though for them, specially for my dogs, they were struggling so much that I had to push them most of the time, they were really small and skinny dogs and one of them had to vomit more than five times. It was horrible to see these poor animals struggling, I felt really sorry for them and felt really uncomfortable the whole trip. My boyfriend and the rest of the group had some bigger dogs and they were ok. We saw another tour while we were crossing the lake and they all had big huskies, they look happy and fit. If you are going to book this kind of tour make sure you do it with a company that has proper dogs for this type of activities. This is a very expensive experience and when you pay such a big amount of money you expect to have great time! This is the first time I leave a bad review on trip advisor and I really hope the company take this information to improve.

Driving a dog sled was the highlight of our visit to Sweden, and that's saying a lot because we did a lot of cool things!!! Our family of 3 each drove a sled, and our leader was the owner, Daniela. She is so happy and friendly. She makes you feel right at home. She teaches you everything you need to know about driving the sleds.
The first hour, you will learn about the sled, and start prepping it by leading the dogs to the sled to be harnessed. This is a WORKOUT because these dogs are like non-stop running motors! They just want to go-go-go, and they get super-excited to know they are going on a run! The kennel is really loud with all the dogs barking, and it is a little miserable, because you can't really get a lot of connection with the animals because they are hyper-stimulated. The dogs look really small, but they are healthy, and they are built for this, so don't worry! Daniela explained that these are not purebred dogs for a reason: they mix the breed to get a dog with power, endurance, warm coats, etc. You will be shocked at how strong 4 small dogs are!
Once we started our ride and got away from the kennels, the dogs do what they love - RUN!!! You will likely feel stiff and uncomfortable on the sled for the first 15 minutes or so, but just go with what Daniela taught you, and you will be fine! I had a few mishaps on my trip: I dumped the sled on its side rounding a corner (dogs can't pull it like that), and lost my footing once and held on for dear life and was dragged (it didn't hurt), and I had to come to a slamming stop and was almost rear-ended because one of my doggies preferred to stop and take a poo instead of doing it on the run. This was the "worst" of it, but Daniela had told us what to do, so we were all prepared.
So, now, for the best!!! The silence of the ride is amazing. The dogs stop barking as soon as they start running, and they know just what to do. All you hear is their panting and the sound of the sled moving along the snow. The route is breathtaking and surreal. It is just AMAZING! I just can't describe how amazing this opportunity really was.
We also loved that it was just our family and Daniela. She really cares for her animals and loves what she does. We would definitely, DEFINITELY do this again if we have the opportunity!!!
Also, I would encourage you to drive the sled (don't be a passenger).

I have been dog sledding in Kiruna and around the Arctic now for almost 15 years. This is the best place in the world I have found for dog sledding which is why I keep coming back.
The wilderness is pristine and you can have a true Arctic experience here if you get involved, Dog sledding is not just about riding on a sled, although you can do this if you want to. Even though the dogs know where they are going you still need to throw your weight around to keep the sled upright and going around corners. Its not hard but you will discover aches from muscles you never knew you had, all of which just shows you are doing it right.
To get the real experience you need to learn how to harness your dogs, they won't bite so don't worry, and help with feeding during the trip; it all helps you to bond with your team and get the most out of them, it also gets the teams set up faster in the mornings and gives you more time on the trail. The dogs are stronger than they look and will have no problem pulling your sled but you need to help from time to time when going up hill. You just have to step off the sled and run along behind but don't let go or it may take you a while to catch up ;o) the dogs normally let you know when you need to help out by looking back over their shoulders at you.
Out on the trail there is a selection of different cabins; which you will use depends on the length of your trip but all groups go through the big wilderness lodge where you often find several groups at the same time with different languages and cultures mixing together sharing stories from that day on the trail.
The accommodation is rustic but very practical and designed to keep the warmth in and the cold out, lighting is by candle or oil lamp, meals are cooked on wood fired stoves and water comes out of the pure local streams. Let them know in advance if you have any food allergies or you are vegetarian so they can prepare suitable meals before you set off.
On a clear night there are the Northern Lights to look out for, they are not guaranteed but only once have they failed to appear in my last 14 years, when they do come they are amazing and you will never forget them.
Most people join small or large group tours depending on what they want to get out of the week but if you want something special for a couple they can arrange that for you too and you will get your own guide.
The temperatures can range from -30°C to just above freezing depending on when you go and the prevailing weather but don't worry they will kit you out with appropriate clothing for your trip.
If you are worried about the cold or get problems with cold hands and feet then it may be worth buying some single use air activated hand and toe warmers to take with you as they are much more expensive when you get there. Don't bother with the reusable gel hand warmers they won't last more than 20 minutes in this environment.

This was THE most fantastic & unforgettable experience that I've ever done!
Everything is very well organised, the people are friendly & knowledgeable and the dogs hard-working but very well cared for and love pulling the sleds.
The weather ( obviously not guaranteed) was perfect and set a magical backdrop to beautiful snowy trails through the forest - silent except for dogs panting. We got to see the Northern Lights on our last night in the wilderness cabin. Who needs electricity and flush toilets?! Drinking water fresh from the creek and hearty meals cooked by our great guide Jans.
Icehotel interesting ( not cheap, understandably so) but dog sledding and caring for the dogs definitely the highlight. Super - worth every penny!
