    Falconry experience for 2
This was a Christmas present for mine and my sisters children from their Grandad. Gill and Simon were very welcoming, you can really see their love and dedication to their beautiful birds. We learned so much during the experience. The kids had a great time, they are still talking about their favourite birds days later! :) Will definitely be popping by to say hello at the Melton Christmas fair. Highly recommend this falconry experience, it was a perfect gift and the photos we took will be treasured. Thank you so much Gill and Simon.

    A must do activity
What a fantastic 2 hours we had today with Gill and Simon, handling the owls and birds of prey. Very knowledgeable and experienced couple and boy, the birds were beautiful! A very relaxed session and getting up and close was really spectacular. Looking after these creatures must be an extremely rewarding job. A nice attitude to health and safety made us feel comfortable as did the importance of hygiene. A thoroughly recommended experience.

Birthday Treat with Birds of Prey.
What a fabulous treat this was. For my 64th Birthday me and my mate Malcom spent a very enjoyable couple of hours with Jill and Simon and their birds of prey. They told us all about the owls, kestrel, Gosshawk and other birds of prey. We also got to interact with the birds under their careful guidance. They explained all the health and safety before we started and were extremely knowledgeable on all aspects of Falconry. It was extremely good value for money and a once in a lifetime experience. Thank you so much. Getting up close with such beautiful creatures was an absolute privilege - thanks again.

    An Amazing & Fabulous Experience!
An absolutely brilliant experience. From start to finish the day was perfect. Gill and Simon’s comfortable manner made you feel totally at ease but at the same time very safe with such formidable birds. They were both so knowledgeable about all the birds and answered many many questions!! Having the opportunity to interact and be up close and personal with these creatures was a truly unforgettable experience. I was amazed they allowed me to experience the birds flying and landing on my glove and therefore being able to see them in such close detail. Gill and Simon’s guidance was second to none and their patience allowing my husband to take pictures and videos made the occasion so special. The birds seemed so well cared for but of course they would be with such a passionate duo looking after them. I would recommend the experience, it truly was a day in a million…Thankyou.

    Awesome Experience
Bought a falconry experience for my boyfriend’s birthday and had a fantastic time. Simon and Gill are both very knowledgeable and any nerves quickly disappeared as they put us at ease from the moment we met them. Learning about the history of falconry and these birds was fascinating and getting up close and flying these majestic creatures was a privilege. Thank you for an awesome morning!!! We have some amazing photos and videos to look back on! Would highly recommend.

    Outdoor activities
We had an amazing time at stapleford park hotel and had booked falconry and clay pigeon shooting with Simon and Gill. We had a fantastic day. Simon and Gill were so lovely, professional and knowledgeable. The shot of port at half time shooting was a treat. The activities available by them were the main reason for booking stapleford park hotel. Whilst a beautiful place it was nice to do something active. Ideal for people who want a mix of a luxury spa hotel but don't want to spend all day in one

When most people think of a ringbearer at a wedding, their thoughts turn to visions of a child strolling down the aisle to hand over the rings, or the beloved family dog fetching their jewellery. None of that compares to the thrill of an owl majestically soaring down the aisle and landing on your best man's arm to deliver the rings in style.

Getting this to happen, however, requires considerable thought. When I remembered being told about the concept of an owl ringbearer by a falconer in my younger days, I mentioned it to my wife during one of our many wedding planning sessions and she was enchanted by the idea of a Harry Potter-esque owl moment during our wedding ceremony. But there are a lot of different businesses offering this service across the country and it's hard to know who to contact and whether everything will go to plan.

That's why we're delighted that we found Gill and Simon while browsing through Google. We contacted other companies, too, but found that they had immediately got important details (like our wedding date!) wrong or simply replied using very terse language. With a service like this, it requires trust that the falconer will be there on time and know how their role fits in with your wedding plans. Gill and Simon were pleasant, thoughtful, and easy to understand in all their messages and we immediately felt comfortable with the way that they explained their services would work in their first email to us.

We couldn't be happier with their contribution to our day. Gill and Simon arrived early at the church, discretely carrying Storm the barn owl so that he could surprise our guests, and ensured that my best man was well-prepared for his role as a landing pad for the owl. We found Gill and Simon a quiet, secluded place to wait in the church until the rings were required for our ceremony, then they got into position while our best man invoked Hugh Grant by pretending to have forgotten our wedding rings before pulling on the falconry glove so that the owl could save the day!

My wife and I will never forget the wondrous sight of Storm the barn owl flying down the aisle to land on my best man's arm. Our guests' surprise at the falconers' sudden appearance swiftly turned to awe and amazement as Storm took flight, and the owl earned a spontaneous round of applause as he accomplished his mission. The pastor conducting our ceremony, who has likely been doing weddings for longer than I've been alive, even announced that it was a first!

We knew that this would make our wedding even more memorable for our guests, so we made the decision to have Gill and Simon meet our guests at the reception venue, while we were having photos taken after the ceremony. Our guests were able to hold the owl on their (gloved) hand and have a picture taken. If your budget can stretch to this, we highly recommend it because our guests loved these owls and it was brilliant to see so many of them updating their profile pictures on social media to show everyone their meeting with a feathered friend. This also ensured that we avoided the pitfall of guests saying 'the owl was lovely, I wish we could have seen it afterwards' for the rest of the day!

And no, that wasn't a typo when I wrote 'owls' in the last paragraph. Booking Gill and Simon for the reception venue as well meant that our guests got to meet Storm the barn owl as well as Nancy the remarkably photogenic tawny owl, and our guests adored them both. While my wife and I were having our wedding photos taken elsewhere (and nearly getting swept off our feet by the howling wind), we kept saying that we hoped we wouldn't miss the owls. Thankfully for us, Gill and Simon had graciously waited for our arrival at the venue so that we could have a photo with Storm and Nancy, which meant a lot to us.

Our wedding truly was a perfect day and it was made all the more magnificent thanks to Gill and Simon's services.

The main tips that we have for any couple considering the services of an owl ringbearer for their wedding are:
1. Ensure that you have permission from your venue(s) first - and ask them as soon as you think this is something you want to do. We asked before making contact with any companies, and it was a good thing that we did because it took 2-3 months before our church gave us an answer.
2. If you have any guests who may have an aversion to birds (or an outright phobia), make them aware so that they can be prepared. It's lovely to surprise everyone with an owl ringbearer, but it's more practical to let close family and your bridesmaids/groomsmen in on the secret so that they can share in the excitement and also make you aware about anyone attending who isn't good with birds. One member of our bridal party was very thankful that she was made aware, otherwise the owl would have given her a jump scare!

We had an overwhelmingly good response to the owls from our guests and would highly recommend Gill and Simon's services to anyone, they really are a pleasure to work with.

On a chilly day at the end of December, Gill and Simon gave 6 family members a very jolly morning laser clay pigeon shooting at Wymondham Windmill. They explained the use of the gun and how to hit the targets very well, and ran a competition between the 6 of us. Throughout they were cheerful and chatty. A happy morning.

This is the 2nd experience we have booked with this small local business. The first one was a couple of years ago and it was a bird of prey experience for my partner and I, Simon was fantastic, incredibly knowledgeable and the experience wasn’t rushed in any way it was truly a memorable day.
My partner recently rebooked more of a tailor made experience, Simon’s partner Jill did all the arrangements, nothing was too much trouble and we had a fun packed shooting experience - exactly what we had asked for, Simon and Jill attended and made our morning lots of fun, they interacted with us and made it really enjoyable, my partner tagged on a surprise bird of prey flight in the nearby woods for me, again she said Jill sorted everything with no hassle. If you want a truly memorable experience tailored to your needs and want to support a local business please book these guys.
I have no doubt we will be using them again in the future.
