    A unique experience!
I went into the museum to escape the rain and spend a wonderful 45 minutes there. It is truly an interactive experience with weird things to smell and taste! Momo was excellent and guided me through the "tasting menu". Unforgettable!

    Excellent musem
Excellent museum and idea, very well guided, staff really helpful. We had a nice guiding by Momo who speaks several languages (Swedish, Danish, English, German, Hungarian, French and some Japanese) so we enjoyed it a lot. Also good for families, we were there with our children who enjoyed it also.

    How strong I am
And now something totally different. Not for people with weak stomachs and big fears. If you want to test yourself how strong you are, compete with yourself and overcome your fears, then this is the right place for you. I have long wanted to try what other people eat. So one more thing for the "to do list" is confirmed. Move on.

Like Marmite- You are either going to love it or hate it. But either way you will have a great experience.
An extremely fascinating experience where I discovered that my limit lies somewhere between 2-6.5m on the scoville scale and not when eating bugs or rotten cheese, fish and eggs. Momo was brilliant and insightful, discussing various topics of interest while there and nailing the descriptions of the disgusting products (some were actually really nice). The price is on the high side but it is unique and interactive. I would go back again with friends just to see some of their reactions.

    Disgustingly fun!
Interesting concept on what we consider disgusting based on cultural structures. Great tasting experience of many extremes things I would have never tried otherwise. Great fun with one of the museum guides, Momo who guided us in the tasting with many tips and fun facts. Worth a visit if you happen to be in the area!

Fascinating and as interactive as you want it to be
Some very cool exhibits, especially the section on poison food. I was a bit nervous that too much of the experience would be focused around actually tasting the food, but there is still plenty of interesting info to learn even if you don't want to try anything. The exhibits were surprisingly thought-provoking at times, and there is some content that could be upsetting but it felt justified and appropriate in this context. When it came to the tasting, our guide Momo was very welcoming and knowledgeable and put us all at ease. It was very cool to get to try the foods in a relaxed and safe environment. I definitely recommend this to people looking for a different kind of museum experience .

Interesting exhibits! Things to see, smell and taste with a touch of history in there too. Momo our guide shared plenty of extra information and really engaged with us too which made it much more interesting and interactive. Thank you!

    Unforgettable experience
This museum is truly worth a visit. The exhibition is very interactive and provides a lot of info in the means of history, tradition of the food, pictures, models, videos and olfactory experience as well. Although the room itself is small, it is packed and you can easily find yourself spending more than an hour in there. The really cool thing is that you can buy some of the foods you learn about and take them home as the coolest souvenir and even try samples of the food on site. And now to the staff: I really appreciated Momo who was our ticker seller and the taste test provider in one. He's such a nice guy who's fun to talk to, he provided additional info and went above and beyond to make the experience enjoyable, he even took the time to find the names of the food samples in our native language. If he's there, you're in for a treat! Once again, such a cool place, I won't be able to forget about it as long as I live.

    Not for the faint hearted
Not for the faint hearted! Yes, people throw up, that why your ticket in is a barf bag. You see, smell and taste disgusting foods from around the world. I did okay with the stinky cheeses and bugs. However the bull penis and wine with dead mice made me gag. You can even buy crickets or frozen goat heads to take home. Book your ticket on-line to avoid sold out times!

    A unique experience
Was 'treated' to a visit to this museum for my birthday while in Malmö, it was certainly an unforgettable experience and definitely not for the faint hearted. Your ticket into the museum is a sick bag, which I thought I was going to need just from the smell jars as you walk around. The tasting section was something I didn't think I would get through. Surprisingly the insects were the easiest part and some didn't taste too bad. As someone that doesn't eat fish, the fermented shark was one of the most disgusting things I've ever put in my mouth, it was a struggle to keep it down. I did manage to taste everything and got the t-shirt at the end. It's a unique experience and I'd highly recommend it as it's an interesting couple of hours.

The staff are great and do there job fantastically well. Very friendly, bit of craic and took care of the customers that were struggling.

I’d seen the Museum on YouTube and it seemed great on an interactive level but it’s not so much for 90%. Most of the “exhibits” are pretty benign, an odd flavoured Kit Kat, a Brewdog beer in a novelty presentation, a whisky you can get in most bars, black pudding and haggis and SPAM. PS Haggis doesn’t taste like liver as is claimed, it’s much nicer.

The most ridiculous exhibit that we burst out laughing at as we started saying I’ve eaten most of this segment was Coriander! Coriander! It’s a herb that’s a staple in a lot of cooking across the globe.

The other ones are mainly cheese that smells a bit. A Roquefort was on the list…..

Towards the end it felt like a vegan/environmental messaging museum. I went to be disgusted and switch off not to get a “message”.

The main reason to go is the tasting bar as you leave. Again the staff are great. Had a mix of insects, cheese, fish and hot sauces. We managed most of them. Feel like the bar could be raised on the disgust factor.

It’s not something youd go to twice but the cost for once is pretty steep especially when you’re looking at 20% of the products that you can buy in a supermarket.

It is truly a one of a kind experience. Amazing really that there are so many really strange and as the name suggests, disgusting, things that are not only food, but in many cases considered as delicatessen.
The museum consists of one room with a few rows of displays. Most of the displays are not the actual food, but some type of replica. Some displays have jars that you can open and smell. You are handed a bag to throw up in if that should be needed. Which it apparently is quite often. The sign at the side of the tasting bar (yes, you can test a few of the dishes at the end of the tour) says that today it was 1 day since last person that threw up on place.
For the price you pay I would expect a bit more, maybe some other interactive displays.

Hi Anna, Thanks for your review. Yes, there are indeed many strange and unusual dishes around the world, and we pride ourselves in collecting them in one place. We have tried to have as much real food as possible, around 65% of the items on display are the real thing as eaten around the world, with another 10% being the real thing but not as eaten (for example a real spider, but not cooked, but rather taxidermied). We focus most of our interactivity on the tasting bar, where you can try over twenty different items for yourself, in addition to the 9 smelling jars.

Visited the museum on a rainy day in Malmö and had a better time than expected. The facts about the food items were very interesting to read and it was also fun to see stuff from your own home country. Its also awesome that you get to try some disgusting food at the end and also get to do a heat challenge. My guide Karina was very fun, friendly and knowledeable about the food items she presented us with. Would definitely recommend if you want to visit a museum thats fun and different

Fantastic experience - It was SO interesting and did actually challenge ones view upon what can be ...or should.. be eaten.

I had two kids (8 and 14 years) with me, and this was the first museum ever were they actually wanted to learn about what we saw. It was so fun, and the smell challenges was both fun and good for home videos 👍😂

The tasting bar was great - I never would have thought tjat my youngest would be fine eating bugs and worms. Such a great experience for all of us.

The premises are not very big, but well planned - Expect to use about an hour and a half. We will come again for sure.

We, two adults and four children (9-12), had a hugely fun and different experience.
Nasty facts, even worse scent experiences and an incomparable ending at the bar counter.
The guide Viktor was phenomenal and challenged the more reserved in the group to test larvae etc.

Definitely worth a visit!

Reading about this museum being a hidden gem in Malmö, we stopped by to check out ourselves.
I was afraid it would be like a funny museum that just makes you be disgusted a d go home.
The name is what brings tourists there but the vision behind it is what makes them write good reviews!
Had very much fun learning about unusual foods in different cultures and understanding how one's perception of taste and disgust is culturally embossed.
The staff was very nice, helpful and had a lot of interesting facts&stories to tell.
The tasting is not for everyone tho but us as adventurous foodies really loved it!
Not every day you get the chance to try this extraordinary foods for yourself and let go of prejudices spread.

Must go!

Who knew the experience of reading about unusual food and then trying out some of this food could be that good.
The museum seems small but they really packed a lot of interesting foods in it, the path is nicely structured and you can follow along without any problems. Some of the food is available to be smelled and at the end, you are helped through the buffet of interesting foods that you'd normally not be able to try if you don't come from a place those foods are available. But if you don't fancy eating worms and such, you can also try foods that have unfamiliar taste but might be considered 'disgusting', salty licorice for example.

Besides all that, staff is very friendly, speaks good English and is up to make a joke or two.

I really enjoyed the visit and would recommend it to anyone instested in fascinating stuff, that also has a good stomach. But just in case, you get a 'vomit' bag at the begging and if you don't make it to the end, you can be the person who resets the 'days since vomit' counter.

We had a disgustingly great time at the museum exploring the different foods from all over the world and the horrible smells! Funniest part was the tasting with the amazing host Momo who explained everything very detailed and helped us to expand our personal eating boundaries! Totally worth the money but we won‘t come back - don‘t want to ruin the vomit accident countdown xD

The Disgusting Food Museum is a one-of-a-kind experience, a delightful exploration of the palate! Despite its compact space, the museum houses an impressive array of exhibits, showcasing various cuisines that challenge our conventional sense of taste. Each dish comes with its own unique history and context, making the viewing experience both enlightening and intriguing.

The true highlight, however, comes after you've taken in all the exhibits: the tasting session. Guided by the incredibly amiable and knowledgeable Karin, we were taken on a culinary journey that was as educational as it was surprising. Karin's dedication to her job shines through, as she meticulously explains the origin and preparation of each item. Whether you're a food enthusiast or simply curious, this museum offers an unparalleled adventure into the world of unconventional delicacies. Highly recommended!
