We arrived early enough to take a walk around by ourselves and then saw that there was to be a guided tour. A very knowledgable young lady told the story of the castle and the Kalmar dynasty with humour and not a little pride. We...More

Historically significant for Sweden and the entite nordic region and a beautiful castle. The Davinci exibit was fun but maybe not what I was looking for visiting a historical place. Really impressive interiors and ramparts. Well made exibits.

Average castle, more like a fort, not wheelchair friendly, great views and a bit expensive. They even charge for using the toilet

Thank you for your feedback! Inside the castle we never charge using the toilet. When you pay the entrance fee, everything is included as all exhibitions, guided tours and children adventures. Welcome back to Kalmar castle!

Given that I had no expectations, this was a terrific experience. We had a really good guide who explained the history of Sweden and Denmark. If you get a chance also have a look at the excellent Da Vinci exhibition

When I went to Kalmar Castle, I made a very interesting trip back in time. Nearly literally, because there was an ancient market taking place and so everything fit into another. The surroundings, the feeling of the old building, the reenactment of the old times....More

I would recommend the restaurant at Kalmar castle. I ordered a really tasty salmon there. If you are anyway going to Kalmar castle, its restaurant is a really good choice and it's pretty price worth.
